Job Summary Company instructor who performs an oversight, safety and qualification role for Helicopter pilots undergoing evaluation. Conducts training and flight checks in a classroom, an aircraft, or in a flight simulator. A new pay scale applies, effective August 2022.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: Evaluate operational compliance including all aspects of safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, and other procedures and policies as described in the General Operations Manual• Initial and Recurrent training (ground and flight)• Transition, differences and ROC (restricted operations checks) ground and flight training• Will correct and report out-of-compliance issues immediately. When unable to be corrected immediately, the CA will coordinate with the ACP and Regional Aviation or Maintenance Director as appropriate to ensure the problem is corrected• Assist in the development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules• Ensure that standardized training and checking procedures, provided by the certificate are adhered to• Assist the CP and ACP in all pilot record keeping requirements in accordance with applicable FARs and policies• Assist in the development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules• Submit required reports in a timely manner• Expected to operate advanced aviation training devices and operate full motion simulators as required• Assist the CP in the development of the aircraft checklist and Air Methods' Pilot Training Programs• Will assist in development and conduct (as appropriate): Basic Indoctrination Training, initial and recurrent ground training, initial and recurrent flight training, instrument training (ground and flight), and night vision goggle (NVG) training (ground and flight)• Other duties as assigned

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education & Experience• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience• Bachelor's degree preferred• Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred• Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience• ATP rating in aircraft category preferred• Commercial/Instrument rating required• Must meet total flight hour requirements

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations• CFI / CFII (Rotor wing) or willingness to obtain within one year

The Check Airman is responsible for ensuring that our commercial pilots can safely operate high performance (300+ hp) single and multi-engine aircraft. Along with the training team the Check Airman duties are to annually verify that every Vexcel pilot is competently and safely able to operate Vexcel’s fleet of aircraft. This person will be responsible for providing simulator and aircraft checkouts in our company aircraft, which includes Cessna 206’s, 210’s, 310’s Piper Aztec’s and Navajo’s. As Check Airman, you will be a key component in ensuring Vexcel maintains a safe working environment through initial and recurrent training.

Vexcel Imaging US is a leading provider of high-resolution aerial imagery and geospatial data, aerial remote sensor systems, 3D data, and fully integrated photogrammetric software. Vexcel imagery and data services are delivered via the Vexcel Data Platform (VDP) and used in a variety of industry solutions worldwide such as local and federal government programs, financial services, insurance, telecommunications, environmental, energy & utilities, mining, and many others that require the most accurate view of cities and lands in a consumable, digital format. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve expert level knowledge of all aircraft and systems used by Vexcel and deliver initial and recurrent training to the pilots in each aircraft they are authorized to operate.
  • Utilizing a flight simulator, verify pilot skills and ensure pilots are fully capable of handling known emergency situations.
  • Perform “in aircraft” skill verification and provide local & cross-country skill training for pilots in the type aircraft they are flying.
  • Ensure pilots are safely operating aircraft in compliance with all laws and regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Document all training in the company databases along with maintaining and updating training materials in the company database.
  • Coordinate pilot training and instruction events as required in support of the Lead Training Pilot and Chief Pilot.
  • Recommend improvements to flight training operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • FAA Commercial Pilot License
  • Minimum 1500 hours PIC and 500 hours of multi-engine flight time
  • FAA Certified flight instructor
  • Experience flying high performance piston twin engine aircraft preferred
  • Ability to verify pilot skills to safely operate single and multi-engine high-performance aircraft
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and safe decisions
  • Good interpersonal skills.
