2009

Before launching Opus, Pousaz bought a Mauritius-based company in November 2009 called SMS Pay who were tasked with building a new payment gateway.

2011

The company became profitable in 2011 through a deal with Chinese tech gadget trading website Dealextreme.

2012

The company became Checkout.com as part of a rebrand around 2012.

2017

Revenue numbers saw a 60% jump from 2017.

2018

Checkout.com’s $5.5 billion valuation was aided by strong revenues and aggressive investor funding. It generated $74.8 million in revenues in 2018 and also earned $2.3 million in profits in the same year.

2020

After additional funding rounds, the company's valuation had increased to $15 billion by June 2020.

2022

In January 2022, the company announced a $1 billion funding round, surpassing the value of competitors such as Revolut and Wise.
