**What you will do:**

Current college students of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support and design/development for various engineering aspects of our business. This could include work in energy delivery - electric engineering, gas engineering, energy operations, and more - all while helping create a better tomorrow for the communities we serve! In addition to working alongside full-time employees carrying out the engineering function for Consumers Energy, Engineering Interns will have the option to participate in a number of additional optional events within the program. Actively enrolled and pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a specific focus in Chemical Engineering. The following MUST be true to be eligible for an Intern role.

**Essential Functions**

Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Electric Distribution, Gas Transmission and Distribution, Electric Generation systems, as well as facilities and ancillary support process for all utility operations. Duties and who this individual report to will fluctuate between projects, Practice Areas, and offices. Individual possesses the skills to lead, problem solve, and work well in a team environment. Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards. Lead and/or assist with engineering projects to include design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation. Provide engineering services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget. Use computer assisted engineering, design, and drafting software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects. Become familiar with plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide all engineering services in a legal and ethical manner. Reviews operating and construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the design documents.

**Hours and Travel**

This position requires the individual to typically work 40 hours per week with 85% of time spent in the office or specific field locations. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location.

**HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO**

Are you excited to put the classroom knowledge you have learned so far into action? **Get out of the classroom, and come and spend the summer of 2023 with an industry leader in aggregates.** We are seeking students who are looking to get their hands dirty by immersing themselves in plant processes. This position will have the opportunity to tackle new challenges and projects and gain real-world working experience. You will have lots to talk about when you return to school in the fall!

This position will reside in **Union Bridge, MD.**

**What you'll get to do:**

+ Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment

+ Put your education into action in the field to support and participate in assigned project work.

+ Support the plant operations in achieving production goals while partnering with experienced engineers, managers, and production employees in different departments.

+ Complete technical projects to gain an understanding of the operations of a cement plant and the cement industry, as well as obtain the practical application of mining and quarry skills.

+ Learn the mission of the production, maintenance, and quality departments and different job and functions.

+ Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
