Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Operator to join our Avoca LLC, a division of Ashland, business at our Menomonee Falls, WI location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform production operations including all aspects of fermentation from flask preparation and inoculation to production tank sterilization, inoculation, monitoring and termination Analyze and interpret results for in process samples using analytical instruments such as GC/HPLC and associated HP ChemStation software, Karl-Fischer, spectrophotometer, pH meter, analytical scale and microscope Organized, able to maintain a clean work environment and show good communication skills to ensure timely, accurate and safe completion of all production operations during the assigned shiftA good safety record including the completion of regular training and use of equipment and PPECandidates must be able and willing to work as part of a team or as an individual to solve problems Good communication between production, QC and Maintenance must be displayed at all times Candidates must take ownership of their own training and work with their lead person or supervisor to ensure full knowledge of the building and its operations within 1 year Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Ability to wear a respirator for an average of 30 minutes per 12 hour shift Knowledge of recovery operations to include centrifugation, solvent extraction and recovery, batch distillations and reactions Operate a fork truck for an average of 1 hour per 12-hour shift Move 15-gallon drums with cart (max 200 lbs./drum) for 1 hour per 12-hour shift Move 55-gallon drums with cart (max 700 lbs./drum) for 1 hour per 12-hour shift Lift 55-lb bags/containers for 2 hours per 12-hour shift Work 12 hour shifts 6pm-6amDemonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
Associate degree in science desired, but not required.2- 5 years' experience in fermentation/chemical plants.
