**The opportunity:**
Responsible and accountable for all Chemical Recovery day-to-day operations, personnel, safety, environmental impact, cost center, quality, and production requirements; coordinates these efforts through the mill area shift supervisors. Manage daily production resources, interface with other departments, and trouble shoot any operational and/or quality issues. Responsible for ensuring that personnel have the tools and information needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
**Reporting Relationship:** Chemical Recovery Tour Supervisors report directly to the Chemical Recovery Superintendent. Hourly Chemical Recovery employees report directly to the Tour supervisor.
**HOW YOU WILL IMPACT WESTROCK:**
· Review of production and quality results daily.
· Review of operators round sheets, check sheets, log sheets, etc., daily, with emphasis on identifying trends that may lead to non-conformances or maintenance needs.
· Actively promotes and participates in all elements of the safety programs at WestRock Mahrt Mill.
· Responsible for ensuring all personnel operating in the area are aware of and adhere to the safety rules established by the mill.
· Understands his/her role with respect to the WestRock Quality Policy and Environmental Policy and applies these principles to resolving daily issues.
· Monitors work order requests to prevent duplication and/or conflicting work.
· Works with other salaried employees to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and/or scheduled to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while equipment is down.
· Leads accident/incident/near miss investigation for any occurrences in the Chemical Recovery department.
· Understands and utilizes the Chemical Recovery Department's Standard Operating Procedures, General Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures and Operating Guidelines.
· Continue to assist in development of effective training and special assignments for team members.
· Responsible for performance management of department, including instruction/coaching.
· Abides by current union-management labor agreements including attendance and payroll.
· Communicates and works well with other departments and Production manager on issue that could affect other departments within WestRock Mahrt Mill.
· Other duties as assigned.

· A college degree is preferred or a minimum of 6 years of experience in a chemical recovery operations position.
· Ability to supervise in an organized labor environment.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization.
