MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Entry para-professional in the Laboratory Technician Sub-Function, possesses basic knowledge in performing a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.

Makes and records observations.

Performs simple calculations.

Collects and prepares data for evaluation.

Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment, arranging and dismantling apparatus, and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.

Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.

May analyze compounds and manage corporate compound collection.

Responsibilities
Remain adaptable and professional in a high-paced manufacturing environment.Prepare, correct, and qualify liquid samples, ranging from 1kg-275gallons (in lab hood or on production floor).Employ proper formulation methods for the development of water-based paper adhesives. Emulsion polymerization of homopolymers on the bench level and future scale-up.Maintain and update lab equipment as needed and establish and maintain calibration test protocols (e.g., calibration of scales, viscometers, pH meters).Organizing and maintaining lab cleanliness, samples, and stations.Perform and report quality investigations for Greif and customers on paper, adhesives, and composites Coordinate agencies and participate in external and internal quality audits.Write Work Instructions and maintain Good Laboratory Practices.Preparing a series of small samples and comparing them with various tests (e.g., paper adhesion, setting speed, routine analysis by chemical tests, and FTIR).Drive regular communication with your team to create organizational awareness and transparency.Deliver result-driven bi-weekly reports and communicate with customers on testing and troubleshooting.Work independently and with project team members to develop, design, control, and deliverables, including test plans, performance requirements, quality plans, and test methods.Reach out to chemical vendors and manage samples for testing/trials.Accompanied and independent traveling up to 50% or as needed.

  • Minimum requirements are a BS degree and 5-7 years of related Chemistry experience; an advanced degree (Masters 3-5 or PhD 0-2) is preferred; applicants with a PhD degree will be given preference.
  • The ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • The desired advanced degree should be a research based degree with the focus of the research being mass spectrometry, although research based in other disciplines of chemistry (e.g. Organic, Analytical, or Petroleum Chemistry) will be acceptable.

Preferred

  • In addition to mass spectrometry, individual should be familiar with gas and liquid chromatography.
