What you’ll do

  • Facilitate and support the analysis, administration and oversight of air, water and soil samples using standard chemistry/ biochemistry policies, programs, and practices
  • Clean, maintain and calibrate equipment
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation on all laboratory work

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/ Biochemistry or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Ability to perform work in a lab or office setting, remain standing for long periods while conducting tests, work around strong smells, and wear personal protective equipment while handling samples (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses and gloves; all PPE provided by Pace®).

Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Scientist - Chemist in Richland, WA.

Navarro Research & Engineering is an award-winning federal contractor dedicated to partnering with our clients to overcome their most challenging environmental, technical, and infrastructure missions within the nuclear and environmental industries. Joining Navarro means being a part of an exceptional team committed to quality and safety while also looking for innovative strategies to create value for the client's success. Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

This position will support Hanford Laboratory Management and Integration, LLC (HLMI). HLMI is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The HLMI members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

The Analytical Control group tracks the performance of the Analytical work groups and provides a myriad of technical services to these work groups.

Responsibilities:

Provide analytical project schedules and reports to the laboratory line-managers with data derived from the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Create client project schedules and laboratory method development schedules using Primavera software, soliciting task status, and updating schedules on a weekly basis

Assist with laboratory work capacity models and client work commitment planning

Develop Statements of Work (SOW) and support documentation for procurement of laboratory instrumentation and vendor service contracts

The candidate will interface with chemists, line-managers, vendors, and occasionally with clients.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a BS in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 7 years Analytical laboratory experience

Candidate will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 10 years Analytical laboratory experience

Project Management skills including Field Execution Schedules including familiarity with Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project management / scheduling software

Knowledgeable user of LIMS systems

Knowledgeable of Procurement planning and acquisition processes

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, data models, and other advanced functionality

Analytical laboratory experience in environmental laboratory performing CLP-type work

Experience with Microsoft PowerBI

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
