Fork Truck Operator - Off Shift - Shipping Team $22.31 Hour to train plus shift differential
Opportunity summary: As Forklift Driver in our busy shipping bay or warehouse, you will be responsible for operating industrial forklift to track load and/or unload trucks for delivering the units to customers according to their requirements. You will also keep accurate tally of what is shipped to customers. We are a high-volume manufacturing plant, and you will be part of a team that loads up to 60 trailers a day. You will also be responsible for all activities associated with safely operating the forklift in addition to participating in cross training efforts and sharing duties with other drivers. Our forklift drivers may also operate our banding machines to ensure pallets are ready to load.
This is a union facility and we work 8-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts if OT is required. OT is paid at time and ½ for over 40 hours worked. Our plant is not climate controlled.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
Inspect the forklift daily at the start of the shift ensuring all safety features are operational. Complete checklist documenting inspection.
Safely track and move materials throughout the facility safely and efficiently
Responsible for the overall safety and cleanliness of the equipment and work area.
Assure all materials shipped and warehouse are handled in a manner that prevents damage
Load and unload trucks according to department standards and customer demands.
Use an RF scanner for receipts of returns or deliveries.
Verify all counts, quantities, quality and descriptions of products and materials received, shipped or warehouse are what is expected.
Service production lines, delivering products as requested.
Properly palletize or shrink wrap a unit.
Timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the movement of product & materials.
Responsible for general cleanliness of the warehouse and loading docks.
Perform regular inventory and cycle counts.
Safely change forklift propane tanks and/or batteries as needed.
Assist other departments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
High School diploma or G.E.D. strongly preferred
Must have a valid driver's license
Previous forklift experience in a high volume high speed environment
Forklift driver certification valid during the last 12 months is highly valued, but we will teach you.
Basic English is helpful. Hablamos Español!
Knowledge of machinery and how to identify issues and troubleshoot equipment preferred.
Ability to learn proprietary software programs for the Corrugated Manufacturing systems.
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, comprehend simple instructions, follow maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, rations, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with all employees and to customers, both verbally and in writing
Must be able to maintain good attendance.
Must be available to work overtime and weekends or other shifts.
Physical demand will include the ability to sit for continuous hours, stand, walk, bend, kneel, navigate stairs though the entire shift and drive in reverse.

The salary for this position is $22.31 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. A Day in the Life as a Driver / Warehouse Assistant:
As a Driver / Warehouse Assistant you'll be a Part-time substitute driver responsible for operating agency trucks making deliveries of bulk, pre-palletized foods to distribution locations within New Hampshire that provide support to local community food pantries. This position assists with shipping and receiving of donated foods and works to ensure accurate inventory control is maintained in the warehousing and delivery process.
Your day will involve:
Operating large box truck with lift gate utilized in the delivery of bulk, pre-palletized food products that are distributed to eligible community food pantries and other eligible organizations.
Assisting with shipping and receiving of USDA donated commodities and other donated food items and assisting with preparing shipments for delivery verifying product quantities agree with shipping invoices.
Operating agency equipment including forklifts and electric pallet trucks utilized in the warehousing and delivery process.
Completing scheduled deliveries in a timely manner to pre-established food distribution locations.
Must be detail oriented, completing shipping and receiving records and invoices accurately.
Checks all fluid levels and performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspection prior to operating agency vehicles and equipment. Informs immediate supervisor as soon as possible of any malfunctions and needed repair.

Requirements
Qualifications to Be a Driver / Warehouse Assistant:
To excel in this role, you'll need:
Education: High School diploma or equivalency credential.
Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience. Ability to effectively operate trucks, forklifts and pallet jacks.
Skills: Strong clerical skills including the ability to organize, implement and maintain record keeping procedures.
Characteristics: Ability to work independently with a minimum supervision and accept direction while also being able to work as a team player in cooperation with multiple agencies and organizations.
Technical: Successful completion of criminal record and driving record checks.
Successful completion of pre-employment Agency Drug & Alcohol test; and continued participation in mandatory random NHDOT and Agency drug and alcohol testing.
NHDOT Medical Card.
License/Certification: Valid CDL B driver's license with Air Brake endorsement.

The order filler will be responsible for identifying any damages in the equipment that would qualify it as unable to be reused. Once the equipment passes inspection, the order filler places the material on a pallet. The order filler must also meet production goals by processing a certain number of materials a day.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inspect, sort, and palletize trays, sleeves, bags, pallets, and cardboard
Standing and moving for entire shift
Meets daily production goal
Ensures cleanliness of all assigned work areas
Follows all safety rules
Performs other duties as assigned
