Basic Purpose
The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of materials, ensuring that production lines have the necessary supplies to meet production goals. The Material Handler will work closely with various departments to maintain a smooth flow of materials and contribute to the overall success of the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently moves materials within the facility using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts.
Monitors and maintains accurate inventory levels by conducting regular counts and reconciling any discrepancies.
Receives incoming materials, verifies quantities, and stores items in designated areas.Ensures proper organization to facilitate easy retrieval.
Fulfills production orders by accurately picking materials from inventory and delivering them to the appropriate production areas.
Performs visual inspections of materials for damage or defects and reports any issues to supervisors.
Keeps detailed records of material transactions, updates inventory systems, and completes necessary paperwork.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by Team Leader or Supervisor.
Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), JobSafety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
2+ years warehouse and shipping experience required.
Must have basic math skills.
Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Must be able to operate the following equipment: Forklift, Combi-Lift.
Must have current and valid Driver's License.

Night Shift 11pm-7am Sunday -Thursday. SUMMARY Responsible for building less than full pallet quantity orders (by hand) and staging them at outbound door loading lanes. This function requires frequent lifting and specific equipment and/or process certification.
Requires working in freezer, cooler and dry warehouse environments with extreme cold and/or warm temperatures.
Performs all duties safely, accurately and meets set productivity standards and goals ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Layer Picking (Forklift Operator): Follow warehouse management system directed tasking to transport pallets of product safely between staging areas (docks, layer picking areas and storage areas) following established PWMs.
Pull / Put away product using material handling equipment (MHE), primarily a reach forklift.
Inspect product being moved for shortages, damage, quality, or deterioration of packing and report to supervisor.
Ensure pallets are secured with shrink wrap for effective delivery to a door or staging area and to rack storage (for puts).
Use SWMS (Sysco Warehouse Management System) RF equipment to locate products for order building and accurate retrieval (for layer pick) following directed tasking and established PWMs.
Build pallets in Ti/Hi configuration, label and confirm quantities and product (for layer pick) following directed tasking and established PWMs.
Places older product on top of newer product for rotation purposes (date coded items) Count and label unused (residual) cases and return to correct slot (for layer pick) following directed tasking and established PWMs.
When carrying multiple pallets, pallets with heavier items should be transported on the bottom and pallets with lighter items should be placed on the top to prevent damage to lighter product.
Deliver stacked pallets to assigned area on loading dock to ensure that products are accurately staged and can be systematically loaded.
Must successfully complete the forklift operator certification process and testing and be able to perform the PWMs.
All Functions: Work effectively with immediate supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink/damage (product loss).
Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles, and the accuracy of warehouse locations.
Report any unfixable/unsafe issues immediately to supervisor.
Observe and enforce all safety rules to eliminate accidents and injuries.
Operate appropriate MHE, such as forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks in a safe and orderly manner to eliminate accidents and injuries.
Observe proper lifting techniques and physical work practices in accordance with established PWMs.

The Warehouse Operator will safely operate several types of powered material handling equipment, including the Raymond Reach Truck, Cherry Picker, Powered Hand Jack, Pacer Truck, Sit-Down Lift and/or the Center Rider Pallet Truck. The Operator will use this equipment to support various functions in Export; including delivering orders to packers, pulling and staging freight, loading freight on containers and local carrier trucks, flipping pallets using the Maxy Toppy, and other duties deemed necessary in the area. This position will need D Storage/RF experience, and knowledge of JDE as well as the ability to learn Precision V16 system. The Operator will review bill of ladings to determine accuracy, pull freight, stage freight, and load and scan freight. The position must meet KPI standards of 20 pulls min per hour. This position may come in contact with hazardous materials so he/she must be trained to understand all regulations and procedures for handling.
Skills / Competencies:
High School Diploma or secondary GED desired.
Requires visual alertness, hand coordination and judgment to operate all types of material handling equipment.
Must possess reading and legible writing skills. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately.
Must have basic Excel experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
* Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift products weighing up to approximately 80 pounds. Handling of tires (e.g., rolling, destacking, team lifting) greater than approximately 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
* Protective equipment required: steel *or composite* toe boots, safety vest, harness, seatbelt*, SRL (self-retracting lifeline). All equipment is provided by U.S. AutoForce except for steel / composite toe boots.*
* Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee *may be* exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Fumes associated with tires and occasionally car parts and lubricants prevalent.
****QUALIFICATIONS****
* 1 year of relevant work experience
* 18 years of age or older
* Ability to work accurately with lengthy part numbers
* Above average scanning accuracy
* Ability to follow directions and safe operating procedures
* Neat and well organized
* Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
* Ability to work at heights of 25 feet
* Work on feet for extended periods of time
* Willing to work overtime as needed
* Basic computer/RF scanner experience
* Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (do not test for THC / marijuana )
