As the Regional CDO, you'll be at the forefront of our development efforts, responsible for:
Design and execute multi-year fundraising strategies to grow annual revenue and build a sustainable donor base.
Team & Volunteer Leadership: Guide a team of five Philanthropy Officers and engage leadership volunteers to implement effective fundraising strategies.
Serve as the primary liaison for the Board's Philanthropy Committee, supporting members in their fundraising roles.
Oversee implementation of organizational campaigns in the region. Act as a senior leader in the Region and direct the Regional Development team with respect to strategic decisions for the organization; ensure that the Region meets all reporting requirements related to fundraising.
Accountable for achieving or exceeding Region's minimum fundraising target ($8M/year and below), and managing to meet the fundraising expense target. Revenue target may increase due to major domestic disasters.
Cultivate relationships and serve as the primary staff liaison for representatives of large corporations and foundations for solicitation and stewardship purposes. Collaborate with national headquarters development and donor recruitment staff to identify and maximize fundraising opportunities. Orient new Board members to their fundraising responsibilities and ensure they receive the necessary support to be successful volunteer fundraisers.
Major Gifts & Donor Engagement: Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors ($5,000+), leading face-to-face solicitations and stewardship efforts.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years of fundraising leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of "best practices" in development.
Five years of management experience. Must have a proven track record of team management/leadership.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning abilities. Proficiency in MS Office and fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
Travel: Frequent travel within the Virginia Region; occasional travel to divisional offices and Washington, D.C.
A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.
Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
Wear proper attire:
Bathing suit (must be one piece)
Guard shirt
Whistle/Lanyard
Rescue tube and CPR mask
Water shoes, sandals or flip flops (no street shoes)
No pants
Lifeguard should be positioned to maintain 180 degree scanning of pool/zone at all times.
Be familiar with the entire aquatic environment and on each shift make sure all emergency equipment is available and ready for use. Ensure that aquatic environment is free of obstructions and safe for participant use.
Perform chemical checks when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
Staff must be at least 18 years of age to enter the pump room, and must be adequately trained to perform chemical related duties.
Enforce all pool rules with all patrons in a fair, polite, and consistent manner.
Responsible for maintaining all relative certifications.
Promote and participate in YMCA fundraising efforts to include Annual Support and United Way Campaigns.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Act as a leader in emergency situations. Report any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan.
Ensure all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow center Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Follow department Association Standards.
Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary by the Aquatics Department and center operations to ensure an excellent member experience.

Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
Ability to pass lifeguard water test and meet requirements of ongoing drills.
Must be able to remain alert.

Ability to recognize visual and verbal distress signs/actions from potential drowning victim within 10 seconds.
Ability to respond to victim in water within 10 seconds.
Ability to respond to an emergency situation including but not limited to: water emergency, respiratory or cardiac emergency, minor/major first aid and Code Adam/missing person.
Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
