In this unit, you gain experience in everything from labor and delivery to postpartum mothers and babies and gynecological patients. The WACHU is baby-friendly, although we care for a wide variety of patients and use a lot of skills. We have a wide range of experience levels on the unit, and we are a great team; we really work well together and care about each other. Kingsbury is a 25-bed medical-surgical unit, focusing on in-patient care at Cheshire Medical Center. Caring for patients with a variety of medical conditions as well as post-operative patients. You can be part of this competent and committed team performing an exciting diversity of caregiving tasks. Most of our patients are elderly, but we can also see patients as young as 18. You will find that Kingsbury has a good mix of staff experience, and is welcoming to newly licensed individuals. Teamwork is very important, as well as having fun. As a member of this excellent team, you can expect to work 12-hour shifts every other weekend and every other holiday rotation, according to the needs of the department. Under the general supervision of the Nursing Team Leader, Clinical Leader and/or the Department Director and under the general direction of the department physicians, you will perform as a member of the healthcare team to apply the nursing process when making nursing judgments and decisions specific to assessment, planning, implementation/delivery, and evaluation of patient care, and documenting relevant data and care processes.
