Monitors clinic performance metrics, including access, no-show rates, encounter volume, and cycle time. Financial and Revenue Cycle Management Oversees dental billing, coding, and collections in coordination with the billing department. Assists with sliding fee discount program implementation and compliance. Analyzes financial reports and recommend strategies to improve financial performance. Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensures compliance with HRSA program requirements, FTCA risk management, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards. Supports dental-related audits, site visits, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintains readiness for accreditation and regulatory reviews. Monitors quality indicators and patient satisfaction metrics; implement improvement plans as needed. Human Resources and Staff Supervision Supervises dental support staff, including dental assistants, hygienists, and front office staff. Participates in recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions. Promotes a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Coordinates staff schedules, timekeeping, and leave requests. Clinical Support and Coordination Collaborates with the Dental Director to support provider productivity and clinical best practices. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for coding health center patient encounters using ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding tools. Reviews patient medical records and ensures their accuracy and completeness. Communicates with physicians and other health care providers when necessary, regarding medical record documentation. Receives and answers billing related inquiries as related to ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews the medical record to ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, third party reimbursement policies and state and federal regulations. Reviews the medical record to accurately assign codes to patient encounters using ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding tools; codes to the highest level of specificity, using modifiers when required. Abstracts all necessary information from patient health records to identify primary and secondary complications and co-morbid conditions. Ensures that the final diagnosis (ICD10) and procedures (CPT) state by the physician or other health care provider accurately reflect the care and treatment rendered. Investigates charges, ICD10, CPT and HCPCS codes inquiring regarding billing discrepancies, in collaboration with medical personnel, insurance companies, patients and other staff. Audits clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness and identify areas for improvement. Keeps abreast of the latest coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance. Attends staff meetings as requested by the Director. REQUIREMENTS: An associate degree in health information technology or a related field OR. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent highly preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
