The Electronics Technician performs basic diagnosis repairs and modifications to electronics systems. Performs the required periodic maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and testing of equipment as required. Assist other Technicians in the setup, maintenance, and storage of airfield systems and deep-field camp systems that support aviation operations and weather observing.
This position deploys to McMurdo Station, Antarctica to conduct work locally. The United States Antarctica Program requires all personnel deploying to Antarctica to pass a physical qualification.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitors and reports on system readiness, capabilities, limitations, and reliability. Document and archive maintenance actions.
Ensures work center safety and equipment verification; maintain tool inventory and CPR certification.
Submits repair requests, maintain equipment logs and certifications, and manage spare parts inventory.
Calibrates and repairs sensors, test equipment, and support NAVAIDS, communications, and meteorology systems.
Adheres to configuration, security, and frequency management policies and procedures.
Provides 24/7 maintenance support, prepare reports on incidents, system outages, and operational availability.
Setup, maintain, and repair of all NAVAIDS and communications systems; ensure proper equipment installation and compliance with frequency management.
Setup, maintain, and repair of all meteorology systems, and perform maintenance at remote locations.
Attends safety training, maintains a safe work area, and engages in self-development through available training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Laborer:
High School Diploma or GED. Performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill. The following tasks are typical of this occupation: Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances; moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks; stacks materials for storage or binning; collects refuse and salvable materials. Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations; levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; cuts trees and brush. Must be able to move and arrange heavy pieces of electronic equipment, office furniture, and appliances; pull outdoor cable; climb structures; use heavy-duty tools; and if properly trained, operate light machinery and equipment.
Electronics Technician Maintenance I:
High School diploma or GED and Formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or two (2) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors. Two (2) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout. Must demonstrate at least one (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Building Design and Construction Division is an award-winning organization responsible for implementing all major building, renovation and major capital renewal projects identified in the Fairfax County Capital Improvement Program, including fire stations, libraries, courts, police stations, office buildings, maintenance facilities, parking structures, human services facilities and other major infrastructure and public-private partnership projects.
This position works in the Building Design Branch of the Building Design and Construction Division, Capital Facilities in Fairfax County Government Center at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia.
The Engineering Tech Supports project management tasks including tracking budgets submissions, processing invoices, project website updates, general support and maintenance of historical databases, project awards program, project records management, assistance with presentation development, management of the Branch's Basic Ordering Agreements, support for permit expediting including management of the permit bond release process.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assistance to the Assistant Division Directors (Management M-2), Senior Section Managers and Section Managers (Engineer V), and Project Managers (Engineer IV) on small projects or portions of larger projects. Duties include assistance in developing scope of services for architectural/engineering firms or vendors, requesting fee proposals, review of fees or quotes, developing documentation for final approval, reviewing for accuracy with project manager assistance, and coordinating on-site installation through final completion and acceptance. Assists in the overall management of project budgets by gathering cost and expenditure data and monitoring the budgets through spreadsheets. Works with the vendors to resolve discrepancies with the invoices.
Manages Basic Ordering Agreement contracts including Request for Qualifications, advertisement, selection, negotiations, contract award, individual task order contract administration, and contract renewals. Organizes and maintains filing of technical information, including plans and project correspondence for the entire branch. Tasks include: set-up of project file system, maintaining matrix of current file locations, locating documents within the files, organizing file cabinets and hanging plan racks, archiving completed project files and, if necessary, retrieval.
Assist in creating project presentations using draft information provided by staff. Receives project information and coordinates the website updates and ADA compliance requirements. Compiles completed projects reports from the CAP Divisions and serves as the point of contact to provide required information for the annual CAP Completed Projects Book. Completes project presentations and applications for project award submissions. Maintains completed project logs and assists with the monthly status reports in Capital Project Management System (CPMiS). Maintains A/E contract book log; and AutoCAD CD library for project plans, including coordination with Facilities Management Department and project managers. Receives process revisions and templates from professional staff to update the Building Design and Construction Division's Project Management Guide standards. Gathers data on project consultants and project costs and creates/maintains the historical database on the information that serves as the guideline for future contracts.
Provides permit coordination and facilitation support for project managers. Permit work includes delivering, logging in, transmitting pay vouchers, responding to procedural questions, and follow-up tracking for all variety of project permits including site, building, VDOT, and demolition permits. Manages the Land Development Services Construction Agreements ensuring that the final construction is performed, and projects are released from bond, including processing extension as required by analyzing the site work performed to the pro-rate the cost.
Serves as point of contact and takes a lead role for a variety of support functions that are crucial to efficient ongoing operations of the Building Design Branch. Duties include safety coordinator responsible for inventory of safety equipment and ongoing safety training opportunities, maintains staff training and continuing education records, processes the renewal of professional licenses and P-card purchases. Assists in event planning for the Division team building and recognition events.
Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus, four years of engineering technical support work.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

You will learn how to provide technical assistance and engineering consultation during field inspections and provide technical input in resolving problems with water plant operations during emergencies.

Overview
SUMMARY
This is the senior level in the EngineeringTechnician series for TDOT. This position is primarily responsible for driving the transportation operation functions within the department. This includes contract development and implementation, interpretation and implementation of federal and state statutes, interpretation and implementation of department policy and procedures, surveying, materials sampling and testing, construction inspection, contract documentation of daily activities, interaction with internal and external customers, as well as the processing of permits requiring the ability to interpret and apply technical skill sets. In addition, the TDOT EngineeringTechnician IV follows the direction of the Supervisor to perform senior-level functions with complete responsibility for the most complex equipment operations and coordination of transportation technician activities. Job Summary
The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is actively seeking qualified individuals for a full-time position as a Horticulture Technician. This role primarily involves carrying out specialized horticultural duties at municipal facilities throughout the county, both independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities include the application of herbicides and pesticides, as well as pruning, installing, and maintaining high-value plantings. Additionally, the position requires conducting root-flare excavations, managing invasive exotic species, modifying plantings in the field, and implementing precision fertilization techniques. The Horticulture Technician also provides training and supervision to contractors involved in horticultural activities for the program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Implements pesticide treatments; executes advanced pruning, watering, soil assessments, and fertilization; designs, constructs, and repairs landscape installations; in addition to testing, programming, and supervising.
Evaluate the facilities within the county.
Performs research and analyzes soil conditions to facilitate effective turf grass management, alongside strategies for weed and pest control.
Conducts operation and maintenance activities for machinery, equipment, vehicles, and tools.
It is possible that other essential duties related to the specific role and department may be performed.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related work experience in horticulture or arboriculture; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
A preferred background includes understanding the principles, practices, and techniques associated with horticulture, arboriculture, tree physiology, and the ANSI A300/Z133 industry standards, along with knowledge in biology, taxonomy, grounds maintenance, and landscape construction.
Ability to effectively operate and handle backpack sprayers, chainsaws, blowers, water trailers with pumping mechanisms, trucks for trailer towing, and mobile computing tools for field documentation, pesticide record maintenance, and inventory oversight.
ISA Certified Tree Worker or Arborist certifications preferred.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Must undergo criminal, credit, and DMV backgrounds. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Driving records may be evaluated on an annual basis to ensure ongoing qualification. Valid Registered Technician certification is required. Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator and Certified Fertilizer Applicator certifications are required within 6 months of employment. County, e-learning as required. The department may require additional certifications related to the position.
