I. Job Purpose/Objective:
Up to $30/ Hr
This position is responsible for ensuring the safe working condition of all Roberts' vehicles by performing unsupervised repairs and maintenance of all company vehicles under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
II. Essential Job Functions:
Perform diagnosis and corrective action of reported mechanical discrepancies of minor and major repair
Train and supervise underclass technicians (i.e Mechanic Tech II, Mechanic Helper)
Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance
Coordinate job assignments based on technical abilities
Generate written work orders on a daily basis to account for tasks and accomplishments performed
Perform general housekeeping of shop area
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
III. Essential Skills (Minimum qualifications individual must possess when entering position) - i.e. skillsets, education, certifications, etc.:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of work-related experience as a Mechanic II; and/or training (e.g. technical/trade school preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Able to calculate math functions such as addition, subtraction and division
Must be able to speak, read and write in English
Minimum five (5) ASE certificates (e.g. Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Engines, Power-train (drive-line), Air Conditioning, Transmission, Engine Diagnosis, etc.) or Hawaii State Mechanic License
Must have minimum Type 3 License with a current valid traffic abstract
Must own hand tools
Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays

Job Summary

A mechanical maintenance technician is needed to join the team performing research in the Compressor Research Facility (CRF). The CRF is a large-scale test facility that is part of the Aerospace Systems Directorate's (AFRL/RQ) Turbine Engine Division (AFRL/RQT). Research performed in the CRF is focused on aerodynamic, aerothermal, and aeroelastic research on full-scale compressors for advanced jet engines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Member of a close-knit ARCTOS team that works alongside and in support of government researchers in the CRF. A primary role for this position is to assist in preparing the facility for testing, which includes performing expert mechanical work to build up, install and tear down test rigs. Responsibilities include performing inspections and maintenance on numerous subsystems and participating in test execution.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A general working knowledge of turbine engines is desirable
General mechanical maintenance and repair is the majority of the role, including shaft alignment and usage of associated measurement equipment
Knowledge of standard safety practices, including lock out / tag out
Welding experience, including MIG, TIG, stick, and plasma cutting; general fabrication in shop and field
Pipe fitting: ability to follow drawings and fabricate routes on-site for 4" and smaller threaded pipes; experience with hoses, hydraulics, flare/AN fittings, and the tools to create and modify components
EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION
Demonstrated experience with plant maintenance and reliability processes
Experience with installation and alignment of high-speed rotating machinery
Experience welding carbon steel, aluminum and stainless; experience welding pipe is desirable as a secondary qualification
Experience with pipe fitting and hydraulics
Ability to gain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for the position
US Citizenship required
PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in the CRF located in Area B, Wright-Patterson AFB. There may also be an occasional need to support other AFRL/RQ test facilities in the same vicinity. A considerable amount of strenuous physical labor will be required, including the need to lift loads up to 50 pounds. Under normal circumstances, work is performed during regular business hours. However, testing may require occasional 2nd shift work.

● Continually monitors equipment and makes necessary adjustment(s) to ensure proper operation

● Ensures processing equipment is continuously compliant with manufacturer, industry and regulatory safely standards, policies, and are operating safely within facility standard operating procedures
● Maintains preventative maintenance schedules, logs, checklists and reports. Plans, schedules, conducts documents daily, monthly and annual facility preventative maintenance activities. Compiles and submits accurate repair and/or preventative maintenance reports for management
● Coordinates repairs with manufacturer or contractors as requested/require
● Coordinates, organizes and responsible for MRF equipment maintenance parts, inventory and tools. Cleans and organizes workshop and storage areas
● Cleans accumulated contaminants from screening/sorting/baling machinery. Cleans processing equipment and/or rolling stock as recommended/required. Uses high velocity air, vacuum or cleaners/detergents to remove dust, grime or other contaminants from equipment and structures
● Pumps liquid from pits and removes accumulated debris
● Operate a variety of hand and power tools; wrenches, ratchets, hammers, chisels, pry-bars, grinders, saws, drills, air impact wrench etc.
● Operate vehicles and motorized equipment; forklift, aerial lift, industrial vacuum, wheel tractors, light trucks, heavy duty trucks.
● Removes collected piles of debris from the facility both manually and with equipment.
● Perform duties of Processor II as assigned

Qualifications
● Must be able to use hand and power tools
● Ability to work in a team environment and perform/coordinate in plant preventative maintenance and/or repairs
● Ensures that proper safety policies are followed including lock out tag out, PPE, safety notices/paint, barriers, etc.

Requirements
Cleans building (i.e. - sanitizes, sweeps, mops, etc.), structures (i.e - shelters, restrooms, etc.), and other park facilities.
Performs routine landscaping tasks including but not limited to, mowing, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, fertilizing, seeding, etc.
Litter and trash pickup.
Maintains facilities, and storage areas, empties trash, etc.
