What Does A Chief Of Security Do At Teradata

* Partner with product management, engineering and support teams to develop architectures that make certain the products and processes to support them conform to a high standard of security practices and compliance.
* Drive the development and adoption of security standards, practices and technologies within UDA products and infrastructure.
* Partner with customer support services, engineering and operations to plan, research, design and build security applications around intrusion detection, automated compliance scans, cryptography, etc.
* Conduct vulnerability assessments on new and existing products.
* Work closely with Quality Engineering teams to design automated testing harnesses for security testing frameworks.
* Act as a ‘consultant’ to other engineers, proactively making recommendations around software development, etc.
* Meet with customers and industry experts to assess and discuss regulatory requirements across corresponding industries and domains, and from this develop relevant action plans for UDA teams.
* Support compliance efforts by translating regulatory requirements into technical specifications.
* Meet with security vendors and partners to assess opportunities to integrate their products and services into the UDA ecosystem.
* Communicate with UDA customers and potential customers, acting as the authority on all security-related aspects with respect to UDA products and services.
* Liaise on security-related issues with internal business stakeholders both within, but also beyond the UDA group, leveraging company-wide capability and insight.
* Establish and develop a team responsible for UDA product and service security.
* Continuously advance knowledge of leading edge cybersecurity practices through R&D initiatives, attending conferences, publishing and presenting and growing a network in this field

* Draft and propose Enterprise-wide information security strategy and action plans based on Enterprise-wide risk assessment and gap analysis.
* Identify and propose key information security program priorities, initiatives, plans, practices and tools.
* Provide guidance (e.g., information security risk severity assessments / relative cost benefit analysis etc.) and provide recommendations regarding prioritization of investments and projects that mitigate risks, strengthen defenses and reduce vulnerabilities.
* Oversee execution of approved information security projects and internal/external security audits, and provide regular status reporting on progress of such projects.
* Develop, publish, and maintain comprehensive information security and privacy standards, policies, procedures and guidelines and enforce these in compliance with federal and state regulations and standards.
* Act as the primary Enterprise control point during follow-up on significant information security incidents, oversee development of response plans, and provide timely update reporting.
* Advise the management team on risk issues that are related to information security and recommend actions in support of the Enterprise's wider risk management programs.
* Collaborate with the Global IT departments to ensure information security risks in both ongoing and planned operations are properly considered and that all compliance matters are being adhered to as required.
