    Job DescriptionDescription: Center Art LLC, managed by the Space Needle LLC, is partnering with Chihuly Studio to operate the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition on the Seattle Center grounds next to the Space Needle. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Gallery Attendant supports Center Art's organization mission, vision and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, personalization, accountability and ownership. The Gallery Attendant will provide a safe &secure environment for Guests, Team Members, collection, integrity of the facilities, garden and grounds. Consistent commitment to daily engagement with Guests and other visitors in accordance with the Exhibition's program standards to support an experience of excellence which is both welcoming and invigorating. This position will also oversee the safety of the art and Guests within assigned posts. Work with other departments to maintain and control an even flow of all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition Guests. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Promote a positive, courteous, and professional attitude and appearance to all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition, Team Members, and Guests. Circulate frequently through assigned posts to deter acts of vandalism, theft or negligence and ensure the safety of Guests; remain alert and watchful at all times. Interact with the public in a courteous and respectful manner while upholding company policies. Monitor exhibition areas within post to ensure that any causes for concern are immediately communicated to the management or security personnel. Understand and evaluate the Guest journey, providing insight to daily Gallery experiences during periods of peak visitation. Provide information, answer questions and assist in interpretation of the artwork with all Guests. Assist in exhibition evaluations and data collecting. Audit cleanliness and participate in minor cleaning of art areas. Assist in opening and closing exhibition department routines. Work with other departments in day-to-day operational activities. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Sensitivity to Guest's learning styles and interpretation of the art. Provide information about all areas of the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition. Maintain working knowledge of all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition policies and procedures. Know Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition emergency and fire/life/safety procedures. Confidently respond and reassure the Guests in times of emergency and participate as needed in emergency procedures. Assist in training new Team Members. Know and follow lost and found procedures. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Proven great guest service skills. Professional appearance and attitude. Interest in museums and visual art a plus but not required. Ability to effectively communicate using the English language. Knowledge of Seattle and surrounding area preferred. Team player attitude. The Mate is expected to safely and effectively navigate the vessel when the Captain is not on duty, assist to supervise and discipline the crew, assist in conducting safety drills, and fulfill all duties regarding reporting requirements and paperwork. This position may also be responsible for managing shipyard work, loading and unloading supplies on the vessel, cleaning vessel and equipment, and performing other duties. Applicants are required to provide current USCG License with STCW endorsements and other merchant mariner documentation as necessary. This position requires one year experience as Mate of a Freezer Longliner in the Bearing Sea fishery or three years as Mate on another Bering Sea commercial vessel. The position also requires a minimum of two years or more experience as a deckhand or bosun on a commercial fishing vessel. Specific Duties Include: Posses the ability to navigate the vessel while setting and hauling gear and/or securing to other vessels or docks. Requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Crew member must be capable of working consecutive, long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. The work is strenuous and sometimes hazardous due to exposure to operating machinery, mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, pressurized fluids, vibration and with the vessel operating under all types of weather conditions including extreme cold. This means standing, walking and maintaining balance in rough seas or other types of weather. Both hands must be capable of grabbing, holding or gripping rope, rails, equipment and vessel structures for frequent periods of time. Forceful grasping along with repetitive finger and hand use is occasional. Applicant must also be able to occasionally sit, kneel, crouch and crawl. Applicants must be able to climb up and down, safely ascend and descend ladders, work in small and confined spaces, and pass all safety test requirements. Applicants must be able to occasionally lift 11-20 pounds from the floor to the waist and above the shoulders and on a limited basis lift 50 pounds in the same manner. Applicants must be able to occasionally push, pull and carry 11-20 pounds and on a limited basis, 50 pounds in the same manner. Specific vision requirements for this position are that the applicant needs to have peripheral, distance and depth perception abilities. Candidate also needs the ability to determine shades, colors and shadows. Applicants will be required to gain medical clearance for use of a tight fitting respirator.
