The Child and Adolescent Therapist is a licensed clinician, who is recovery oriented in their trauma-informed approach to care of children and families. This professional possesses an expertise in treating children of all ages and exhibits an understanding of evidenced based practice. The Child and Adolescent Therapist is already trained or willing to get trained in Play Therapy in order to effectively treat trauma. Child and Adolescent Therapist, Child Advocacy Center

General Description

Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center of the Smokies is searching for a child and adolescent therapist. This position contributes to the overall mission of Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center (SHCAC) by providing direct and indirect therapy services to child victims of severe abuse, including sexual abuse, and/or who have witnessed a violent act, and their non-offending families and caretakers. Clinical services include assessment and evaluation of counseling needs, development of treatment plans and goals, treatment of trauma, and crisis intervention. The successful candidate will possess an understanding of the complexities of CAC clientele and be sensitive to the cultural and language needs of Safe Harbor clients and their families, work well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, bi-lingual, Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The part time or full-time therapist will be responsible for intakes, assessments, evaluations, treatment planning, and delivery of services, maintaining of clinical records, and upholding confidentiality and code of ethics for their perspective discipline. The successful candidate will participate in a multi-disciplinary team, case consultation, and peer review. The successful candidate will participate in any legal proceedings as may be required. The therapist will maintain accurate clinical records as established by the Department of Mental Health, uphold confidentiality policies and code of ethics for their discipline.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

The successful candidate will possess an understanding of severe child abuse, human trafficking, and child pornography and their effects on its victims and their families. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree (required), licensed (preferred) mental health counselor. Preferences will be given to LCSW, LMFT, LPC candidates. The applicant will ideally possess two years of clinical practice focused on work with children and families, specialty training and experience in the child abuse field, particularly with an emphasis on trauma resolution. Preferred training to include: TFCBT, EMDR, Art/Play therapy. The successful candidate should possess strong communication skills both orally and in writing and be able to relate to clients with diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate shall also respond to Safe Harbor clients with empathy and compassion while maintaining client confidentiality and ethical conduct. Applicants must complete a SHCAC of the Smokies job application, provide a current resume and cover letter, be willing to submit to a criminal background check, and provide 3 professional references.

Qualifications



Education : Graduate Degree required. Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Experience : Minimum of three years experience required. Licensure/Certification : LCMHC formerly LPC, LCSW, Clinical Psychologist or PMHCNS required. LCAS or CCS for Therapist working with the substance use patient population preferred. Additional skills required : Good working knowledge of computers. Ability to care for Behavioral Health Age Specific populations. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
