Summary*

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Youth Program Administrator in identifying, administering, and coordinating youth programs through the Office of Resident Services. This position is responsible for coordinating community events, connecting with various community organizations and programs, and monitoring participant and program data and progress.

All activities must support the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (“HABC” or “Authority”) mission, strategic goals, and objectives.

Works with Youth Prorgam Administrator to identify, develop, coordinate, and monitor various HABC Youth Program initiatives.
* Promotes, facilitates and attends HABC Youth Program initiatives.
* Partners with other youth programs and youth organizations in the area, as well as, funders and various service delivery organizations to leverage information for various programs.
* Analyzes data to ensure HABC goals are being met and that the programs are effective.
* Responsible for gathering, entering and reporting on data within the HABC system(s).
* Develops and maintains strong partnerships with local organizations and the community to further the reach of HABC's Youth Programs.
* Works closely with internal teams to develop strategies and best practices for HABC Youth Programs, as well as, reviewing and analyzing data to address challenges, develop new strategies and plan for continuous improvement to support program performance.
* Works closely with Program Administrator to support the completion of reports pertaining to youth program initiatives.
* Represents HABC at local meetings, programs and projects.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience*

Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology or related field(s) and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in youth, teen or family programs. Two (2) years of experience planning and/or facilitating community-wide events. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

We own and operate 26 communities all over Austin and in North Texas.

The Youth Program Assistant will lead daily activities and engage youth in education-centered after school and summer youth programs, including but not limited to, homework/academic assistance, fitness, reading and enrichment. Responsibilities will be carried out in a predominantly in-person setting with virtual programming if necessary.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday (2:00 PM-6:15 PM) on a continual basis and may be reviewed if schedule changes during the Afterschool program taking place during the school year. Summer Program hours (10 AM-3 PM), Monday through Friday with some variations.

Primary Duties/ Responsibilities


Prepare the learning environment, lessons and necessary supplies for program activities in an in-person and virtual setting Plan and lead meaningful activities that include; but are not limited to, arts and crafts, STEM/STEAM, reading, character development, physical fitness, and/or nutrition in a physical and online setting for students at the intended work site and other sites as needed Assist children with homework and academic enrichment activities Ensure safety and supervision of students Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants Maintain accurate program documentation Maintain a clean and organized classroom as well as common areas Maintain a safe working environment for students


Minimum Requirements


High school diploma or equivalent Must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check with Fingerprint check Proficiency in basic computer skills such as navigating websites, use of email suites (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) and search engines, Prior use of, or willingness to learn, online educational tools such as Google Classrooms, Zoom, ClassDojo, amongst others Flexibility to meet the changing work needs and demands Must enjoy working with children K-5th grade Ability to lead various fitness activities as well supervise/participate in sports Ability to organize activities and make sound judgements Ability to interact with a range of age groups


Preferred Requirements


6 months experience working with children; preferably providing educational and/or support to economically disadvantaged families Course work in Education, Child Development or other related field Bi-lingual (Spanish, Arabic or other)


Working Conditions


Ability to work in all types of climate atmospheres (hot and cold temperatures) and wet environments, both inside and outside. An occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials can be expected. May be asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided.


Physical Requirements


Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be willing and able to lift small children, sit/stand or play for 2 hours at a time.


Compensation


$15.00/hour

Sign on bonus of $300 with half payable upon hire and the other half after 90 days of employment.
