At Boys and Girls Country, Teaching Parents are the heart of each cottage family. Teaching Parents are responsible for the daily care of our children. They step in as parents for our children, helping the kids get ready for school, prepare breakfast, lead a daily devotion, prepare and serve dinner, helping students with homework, and so much more. Teaching Parents build trusting relationships with our students while teaching children life skills that support our kids' success throughout their lives. Teaching Parents live in the cottages of the children they care for. They serve as role models, providing encouragement, accountability and support 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Boys and Girls Country has an opening for Teaching Parents to parent up to 8 children in a large cottage that includes Teaching Parent living quarters. For 50 years, Boys and Girls Country has hired Teaching Parents that are led by faith to help change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a home. This is a live-in position and we are currently looking for teams and individuals with a commitment to work 24 hours a day for 8 days, with 4 days off. All candidates must successfully complete a criminal history check, drug testing, and TB test. Applicants must have experience working with children including volunteering, Sunday school and/or church ministry. Our Teaching Parent team receives comprehensive training for 2 to 3 weeks, to include our models, Crisis Intervention/SAMA, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.
Qualifications:

• Have the ability to live on-site and work 24 hours per day, with an 8 day on/4 day off schedule.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must be cleared through criminal background and FBI finger print check.

• Must be cleared through a drug panel test

• Tuberculosis testing

• Must complete or have current CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment

• Must attend pre-service training and complete at least 30 hours of in-service training annually.

• High School Diploma or state-authorized high school equivalent certificate required

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

• A minimum of three years' job related experience. Three years' experience may be substituted with unpaid church positions and service.

• Ability to organize, prioritize work, and present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Valid Texas driver's license and good driving history

• High School diploma
• 1+ years of experience working with children, or 24+ college credits completed in a related field of study
• Valid driver's license & reliable vehicle
• Web Enabled Device (laptop or tablet)
• Positive attitude and strong people skills to work with children and families

Compensation:

• $17.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience, education, and certifications

SCHEDULE:

• Part-Time & Full Time (30+ hrs/week) available
• Part Time schedules must have availability at least 3 weekdays with the same availability
• Full Time schedules require availability Mon-Fri during regular daytime working hours
• Schedules and hours will be confirmed during training, and staff will be matched with clients based on their schedule availability and proximity to available clients

Growth and Development:

Our Child Interventionist will complete training to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). RBTs are 'helping professionals' that teach children affected by autism important life skills. RBTs work on goals such as functional communication, socializing with peers, and sharing with others. Butterfly Effects' RBTs receive training to make a meaningful change in the life of a child and their family.

Physical Demands:

Working with clients in their natural environments may require you to lift or move approximately 50 lbs. and be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.

You'll drive the mission by:

Organize program materials for lessons and activities, as well as document attendance, incidents and other observation

Deliver dynamic Right At School curriculum to engage children in academic and social character building that expands school day learning in a meaningful way

Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety, well-being and attention of all children while supporting homework completion, leading fun fitness activities, and guiding children at play

Excellent communication skills with varied audience including children, parents, staff and school personnel

Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety and well-being and attention of all children

Delivering quality enrichment programs for children using internally crafted Disguised Learning curriculum

Developing and coaching a team who are passionate about providing a safe, fun, engaging environment

Working closely with principals and school staff to enhance the instructional experience

Instilling the Right At School footprint by participating in local community events (Back to School, Right Club gives back, Field Day, and more!)

Manage and maintain safety standards including supervision and program paperwork

Requirements

Ideal Candidates will have the following:

Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills

Strong classroom management skills with the ability to use and model appropriate positive discipline

Works well in a team environment

A passion and drive that inspires a love for learning & the ability to engage children in learning activities in a fun and interactive way

Respect for and dedication to working with children

2 years of direct experience working with children under 13

1 year of supervisory experience

College coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field

Ability to meet state-specific requirements; Finger print LIVE SCAN, CPR/FA, Medical Certificate/TB test, Mandated Reporter training
