How this role contributes to the Y's mission:
As a Y Head Start Resource Aide, you will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide classroom or individualized instruction as needed to support the goals and objectives of the children in your classroom. Designs, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates training and professional development for early care and education programs (childcare centers and family childcare programs) and provides coaching and technical assistance to early childhood educators to deliver high quality services to infants and toddlers using curriculum and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) data. Services will be prioritized for publicly funded early childhood programs participating in Virgina Quality Birth to Five (VQB5). Works under supervision of the ChildCare Specialist III.

Actively participates in all quality improvement efforts, including, but not limited to, becoming familiar with QI tools such as CLASS and ITERS and following the best practices described by these tools, attending assigned training, completing surveys and other assignments designed to improve program quality, participating in observations by internal observers and outside observers.

Job Summary
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Preschool Teacher. The Preschool Teacher position provides learning activities for preschool children, establishes and enforces basic rules to maintain classroom order, and promotes physical, mental, and social development through games, arts, crafts, music, and field trips. A successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss the development of children with parents and plan assignments for Preschool Aides. Our team embraces each child's uniqueness, including all individual skills or needs.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
* Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Actively supports, motivates, and interacts with children during classroom activities; encourages their exploration and play; and assists them in fulfilling their self-care needs.
* Lesson planning and implementation of the preschool curriculum.
* Engages in communication with parents, staff members, and personnel at the school site.
* Supervises children.
* Observes the actions of preschool-aged children.
* Other key job functions related to the specific role and department assignment may also be performed as necessary.
*The Dulles South Preschool Program operates Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. The regular Preschool Teacher position receives additional planning time, totaling 32.5 hours per week, from August to June. *
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; six (6) months' programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. Complete education and experience requirements to meet the Virginia State Teacher certification for the position.
*You must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift 50 pounds. *
Preferred Qualifications:
* One-year programmatic experience, including previous supervisory experience, is strongly preferred.
* Experience with implementing the STREAMin3 curriculum.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Must undergo criminal background and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. You must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of being hired. Pass the TB test within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter. Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire. An annual sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed, disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.

Under the supervision of the ChildCare Specialist III, this position supports and monitors community early childhood centers and family childcare providers participating in the quality measurement and improvement system Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5). This includes outreach to programs for understanding of the VQB5 system and the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool, support for VQB5 registration and other data entry as needed, conducting CLASS observations in programs and providing feedback, and connecting providers with improvement partners or other professional development supports based on VQB5 data. Acts as the main point of contact and build relationships with early childhood programs to ensure successful participation in the VQB5 system. Serves as the expert for VQB5 registration and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Observations. Other duties as assigned.
Position requires flexibility in scheduling, including some evening and Saturday hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, psychology, social work, or a closely related field; plus two years of experience in day care administration, early childhood education, or related human service administration.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Additional work schedule requirements: Must be flexible to meet program needs. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Infant / Toddler / PreK Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) certified observer.
Experience providing on-site technical assistance, mentoring, and/or coaching for early childhood professionals.
Experience working with early childhood professionals in an early childhood program, center and/or family childcare home.
Experience working with a diverse, multicultural population.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary in nature; however, incumbent may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to visit early childhood programs and attend meetings at various locations and make presentations to county staff and community. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
