MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Educational Services and the Group/Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant assists in providing direct early childhood educational services to children between the ages of two (2) months and five (5) years of age.

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Teacher will work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 15-20 children. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Assistant Teacher shall be responsible for:
Child Growth & Development: Implements a child-centered curriculum to its fidelity and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
Planning: Responsible for collaborating with the Lead Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans and individualization for children. Collect daily anecdotes and write observations for children. Assess children with Teaching Strategies Gold online three times a year
Program Implementation: Provide positive guidance and discipline supporting children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond
Family Partnerships: Encourage parent participation in staff-parent conferences and home visits discussing their child's development and education
Communication and Service Coordination: Maintain regular contact with parents and complete appropriate documentation; Direct developmental concerns to the Health, Nutrition and Disabilities Coordinator
Record Keeping and Reporting: Request supplies as needed and participate in classroom/program inventory as requested
On-going Monitoring and Self-Assessment: Work with teaching team to analyze child outcomes on a classroom basis two- three times a year
Collaborate with family advocate and coordinators in providing high quality comprehensive services
Participate in coaching opportunities and professional development training development
Ability to lift 35 pounds

What You'll Do
As a Teacher Assistant you will work in our integrated and self contained preschool classrooms and collaborate with the Special Education Teacher to create a safe, warm and caring educational environment for our students. You will follow all OCFS regulations, follow schoolwide PBIS initiative, and collaborate with classroom staff, parents, education consultant, and administration.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Work under supervision of classroom teacher.
Assist in caring for physical needs of children
Attend staffing, departmental in-service meetings as assigned.
Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well maintained.
Maintain professional ethics in the building and out, regarding the discussion of pupils, and their conditions.
Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
Assist with behavior management of children under the supervision of the classroom teacher as outlined by Program and Agency policies.
Interact with children at all times in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, while encouraging self-help.
Assist in child observation, records keeping, and assessment.
You're a great fit for this role if you have:
High School education or GED, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Compensation
$17.00-$21.00/hour

Job Summary:
The Assistant Teacher/Floater assists the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in a classroom. May or may not be assigned to a specific classroom and will help in other classrooms as needed. Supervises the class(es) during nap and break times when the Lead Teacher/Teacher is out of the classroom, helps with meals, safety, and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly room and School. May be required to work with various age groups.
Essential Functions/Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the daily program for children, including the following: o Preparation and cleanup of daily programming and activities.
o Curriculum and child assessments
o Ensure children are taught to read and write in the English language.
o Help children learn to think creatively, solve problems, and respect themselves and others.
Understands and can articulate learning outcomes up and down.
Utilizes digital technologies to communicate with parents and to facilitate intentional lesson planning.
Implements and follows all proper supervision techniques as required by the company and state licensing.
Guides children in a positive manner displaying friendly, affectionate, enthusiastic, and caring behaviors.
Supervises and facilitates the classroom and the learning, according to the plans of the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in the absence of the Lead Teacher or Teacher.
Helps with meal and snack preparation, feeding children, and modeling table manners at family-style meals.
Assists with ensuring the classroom is organized, clean, and tour-ready at all times.
Interacts with children on the playground/classroom taking part in activities that include bending, stooping, jumping, and other physical activities as indicated under the physical requirements section.
Provides exceptional customer service to the families and children we serve, which includes maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and families.
Greet every family, child, and visitor who enters the school/classroom with a warm and sincere welcome. Assist parents at drop off and pick up times. Acknowledge all departing families, children, and visitors with a farewell. Respond to all questions and requests in a friendly and timely manner.
Works to prevent injuries and accidents; follows all procedures related to injuries and accidents if one should occur. Reports child injuries and hazards promptly to the Lead Teacher/Teacher and Director.
Required to attend all staff training sessions, meetings, and programs sponsored by the School; this is mandatory, not optional.
Participates in QRIS or accreditation goals and performs the associated classroom requirements to meet those goals where applicable.
Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to local child protective agency/hotline as mandated by state law.
Performs other related duties as requested by a member of management or Lead Teacher.
Regular attendance is required.
Responsible for daily cleaning duties which include sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.

Education/Experience:
Required:
Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
Be available for full-time employment and available to work as late as 7:00 pm
Previous work experience in an office environment preferred
Have dependable transportation
Certification/Licensure:
CDA preferred
CPR and First Aid certified preferred
If applicable, must maintain required units, certifications, etc., as required by the state and Company.
