This position is grant-funded
MUST MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field of assignment such as English, Math, or closely related field; supplemented by one (1) year of instructional experience as a tutor, educator, para-professional, or related role. English Assignment-must be able to tutor in English, Grammar, Composition, and SAT Preparatory. Math Assignment-must be able to tutor Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. The work schedule will generally mirror the school session, with time off during school-related holidays and summer months; however, the Program Coordinator or Center Manager may assign additional duties during these times if needed.
Experience in leisure or educational programming for youth, adult, and/or senior populations is preferred. May be required to work up to 25 hours per week.
NATURE OF WORK:
The purpose of this classification is to tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in order to improve academic performance in Math and English/Language Arts for middle and high school students, and various core subjects for elementary students. Work closely with Kinship Care staff and students to determine needs and extent of tutoring required.
Additionally, this position assists in planning, organizing, and implementing programs within the Senior Services Department. Duties include leading and assisting with programs, activities, and staff-led classes, as well as providing administrative and program support.
This position reports to the Kinship Care Program Coordinator and Center Manager.
SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Conducts individualized and small group tutorial sessions; identifies skill areas requiring additional assistance; designs and implements exercises and activities to facilitate academic improvement. Maintains all records necessary to document student attendance and educational progress. Schedules and conducts bi-monthly conferences with students and caregivers to review progress. Arranges or assists with special academic programs in addition to regular tutorial sessions. Assists with tutorial program evaluation and success tracking. Assists with the creation, promotion, and implementation of programs under the direction of a supervisor. Provides support for activities, classes, and special events. Prepares program materials and assists with creating flyers, posters, and other promotional materials. Assists senior adults on County-sponsored trips; answers phones; provides center tours as assigned. Performs other related duties as required. Physical Demands: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (5-10 pounds). Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of color, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Duties
Teachers operate the classroom in compliance with all Georgiachildcare licensing standards. S/He ensures that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities. The position also ensures that parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the school through daily contacts. The teacher also observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional distress, or other special needs and report these signs immediately.

You will also assist in daily care such as feeding, changing, and nap time.
Requirements: Must be 18 years or older (16 yr old in some states) and have a high school diploma or GED in most states. Previous experience and knowledge of childcare licensing requirements is great but not necessary.
