Major Responsibilities and Duties: Exercise initiative in developing creative activities to supplement and reinforce learning Assist the children in transferring to and from different locations, as needed Assist the children in getting to the lunchroom and when necessary help them in getting lunch trays and feeding themselves. Be punctual Meet the school buses and assist the children in getting on and off the buses. Assist students in self-help needs such as: toileting, diapering, feeding and positioning Assist the children with coats and other articles of clothing which cannot be handled by children with certain disabilities Work with individual pupils who need help in group activities Supervise small group learning activities Encourage the use of oral language by the pupils Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification Change bulletin boards and assist the teacher in room decorations. Assist the teacher in material and room maintenance Reproduce material as directed by the teacher Become efficient in the operation of technology in the room Supervise game activities Praise frequently and exhibit a cheerful attitude toward the students Fulfill other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the well-being of students Assist in lifting and positioning of students Assist in duty as assigned by the principal Maintain confidentiality of students' testing, diagnosis, status and personal problems Accept the teacher as the authority in the classroom Be subject to bus monitor assignment Ask for clarification of policies as necessary Be subject to transfer or reassignment as necessary Refer parental concerns or staff concerns to teacher, principal or special education supervision Be subject to split teacher assignment as necessary Attend and meet required district hours of staff development Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Campus Principal Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift up to 120 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
