Essential Responsibilities
Instructional Planning & Delivery

Required Experience and Qualifications
H.S Diploma/GED
New York State Teacher Assistant Certification is required
Familiarity with high-quality curriculum programs.

Compensation
Amber Charter Schools strictly follow a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity. The expected salary range for this role is $33,606 - $57,376, depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role. This is an exempt position.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Educational Services and the Group/Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant assists in providing direct early childhood educational services to children between the ages of two (2) months and five (5) years of age.
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for the supervision and management of all assigned children. The Teacher Assistant interacts directly with the children and models appropriate adult-child interactions for parents.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Group/Lead Teacher in maintaining a positive, developmentally appropriate, safe and healthy learning environment.
Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans developed by the Group Teacher.
Actively participate in individual and group child activities.
Assist in the daily set up, break down and cleaning of the classroom.
Assist in serving all daily snacks and meals for assigned children.
Participate in all classroom trips and outings.
Maintain proper inventory and functioning of all classroom materials and children supplies.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required.

Proficiency with computer operations (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs) required.

Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
Assist the Head Teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress report goals for students.
Support students during classroom activities, ensuring they understand and complete tasks.
Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Teach a special activity 1x2 per week as directed and submit lesson plans to the Head Teacher on-time.
Instructional Assistance:
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning material and skills.
Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials.
Provide one-on-one instructional support to students as needed or as directed by the Head Teacher or BCBA Supervisor.
Behavioral Support:

Monitor and document student behavior and progress and enter data into tracking software as required.

Ensure classroom equipment and supplies are used effectively and safely.
Communication and Reporting:
Provide feedback to the Head Teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern.

Daily Supervision:

Key Responsibilities
Support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.

Maintain a clean, organized classroom that supports learning and independence.

Qualifications

A passion for early childhood education and helping young children learn and grow.

Job Description
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting BSECDC's mission through the provision of high-quality early education and child development services. In collaboration with the Group Teacher, the Assistant Teacher will execute developmentally appropriate activities, cultivate a supportive classroom environment, and assess children's developmental progress. This role also entails the maintenance of records, communication with families, and collaboration with staff to ensure the well-being of all children. The Assistant Teacher is required to comply with all relevant regulations and BSECDC policies, as well as remain informed on current best practices in early childhood education.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate the execution of a structured learning environment and curriculum that foster developmental opportunities.
Support the upkeep of classroom space and resources, and aid in the preparation for daily activities.
Employ effective pedagogical techniques and positive behavior management strategies.
Collaborate and engage in constructive communication with classroom personnel and families.
Adhere to the established daily agenda and promote healthy practices.
Aid the Lead Teacher with data collection and attendance tracking.
Ensure consistent supervision, maintain appropriate group sizes and staff-to-child ratios, and uphold a secure and hygienic setting.
Maintain regular attendance and actively participate in professional development activities.
Support the completion of requisite data, documentation, and administrative tasks.
Comply with all applicable organizational policies, procedures, legal mandates, and regulatory standards.
Execute additional responsibilities as delegated.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or equivalent.
New York State (NYS) Certified Teacher Assistant Certification or equivalent.
Associate Degree in Education with active pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Fosters a supportive and nurturing educational milieu.
Superior interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication proficiencies.
Adept in utilizing Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two years of experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or daycare setting. Experience should include planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, supervising children, and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
Familiarity with child development theories and practices, as well as experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and abilities is highly valued.
Additional experience working with preschoolers in a teaching assistant or volunteer role may also be considered.

POSITION OVERVIEW
As part of the education team, under the general direction of the Education Coordinator, with support from the Teacher, assists a given group of children. May be responsible for conducting circle, doing lesson plan and generally assuming the teacher's responsibility in the teacher's absence.

To promote his or her own professional growth of development through participation in regularly scheduled individual conferences, classroom group conferences, staff meeting and early Childhood Training.
To share with other classroom personnel the performance of routine chores related to all areas of the program/
To participate, wherever feasible, in related training opportunities as these become available.
To participate in objective discussions with the teacher and aide about classroom activities.
To adhere to the approved plan by which information concerning the children and program can be shared with the parents.
To attend and participating in parenting education groups and training when required.
To respect the confidential nature of all information about parents and children.

To assist with trips walking through the neighborhood or community bus trips.
To assist with Fire Drill, ensuring the children are escorted down the stairs and back to classroom in an orderly fashion.
