What You Will Do
Essential functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Work as a team with the co-teachers in the classrooms as well as the center's Director. Classroom responsibilities are to be handled equally.
Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth in accordance with program philosophy.
Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom and outdoor activities based on developmentally appropriate practices by using provided curriculum as a guide and following PA early learning standards.
Actively engage children and participate in activities.
Assess children's academic progress and provide feedback to families and the center's Director.
Communicate needs of children to the director.
Ensure and follow all policies, procedures and regulations that govern the program including DHS and Keystone Stars as well as assist the Director in ensuring all policies, procedures and regulations are followed. This includes assisting the Director in maintaining up to date and accurate paperwork and maintain children and staff files.
Ensure active supervision of children at all times of the day.
Understand and follow emergency procedures and how to both direct and implement them (emergency preparedness plan - will be provided to you during orientation).
Ensure a healthy classroom and outdoor environment-including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards to protect the children and staff against infectious/communicable diseases in accordance with regulations.
act as a classroom Teacher (Group Supervisor) at the discretion of the Director in order to maintain child to staff ratios within the childcare center.
help prepare the center to both open and close for operations daily at Director's discretion.
What's Required of You
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or another Human Services field.
2 years of experience working with children in a similar role
2 written personal references (non -family)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
