The ChildCare Therapy Aide establishes effective relationships with children living in residential programs to provide structure and routine and to assist with managing challenging behaviors. They function as part of a team as a teacher of life skills, planning and engaging children in meaningful group activities.
Responsibilities:

Utilize appropriate techniques of behavior management and crisis interventions as indicated in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention guidelines; implement strategies to address escalating behaviors; i.e. time-out, discussion, conflict resolution
Complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
Complies with all agency policies and procedures
Shift Information: Full-Time (40 hours) 2pm-12am; Part-Time schedule and hours are varied based on need

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Childcare Program Staff

HOURS: 7:00 - 8:45 am and 3:30 - 6:00 pm
The Before and After-School Program team is responsible for:
Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework assistance.
Providing a safe, healthy, clean, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
Reporting to the program ready to work at designated times and be prepared to stay until the last child leaves the program.
Communicating daily with parents and family members via the Playground App.
Observing and following state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.
Requirements:
MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferably 1 year of experience working with kids under 13.
Medically cleared of any communicable diseases including TB.
Must be warm, friendly, and upbeat. Exceptional people skills, professional, reliable, and prompt.
Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, carry (up to 50 lbs.), and do whatever it takes to keep up with the children.

Position Summary: Direct Support Professionals (DSP) have a wide variety of duties and perform an array of activities in support of the habilitative services provided by The Arc Erie County. Tasks of daily living and facilitation of recreational activities depend on the specific abilities of the individuals being served and the nature of the setting where the service is being provided. A Direct Support Professional supports people by providing person-centered assistance and training in areas such as, but not limited to: activities of daily living, self-care skills, money management, cooking, self-administration of medication, community integration, and communication.
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Program Manager as assigned.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assures peoples overall safety through maintaining safety standards, familiarity with emergency safety procedures and providing regular training to people in these areas.
Intervenes with peoples inappropriate and/or potentially injurious behaviors in the least restrictive manner possible, while maintaining a safe environment for the person. Use techniques/strategies as identified in behavior plans to support participants to interact in a positive/respectful manner with other and self.
Transports people to medical appointments (if applicable), recreation activities and other appointments/activities as scheduled. Assists in maintenance of those records.
Documents the provision of services, skill acquisitions and supports daily, contemporaneous and consistent with the Staff Action Plan and Agency procedures.
Assists people with personal monies and shopping needs.
Provides first aid when necessary and addresses routine health care needs.
Prepares or assists people with meal preparation, meal planning and purchasing of food.
Maintains a clean, safe environment by completing housekeeping and minor maintenance tasks and by providing training and assistance to people in these areas.
Provides input to the treatment team in the development of a person-centered plan.
Assists in the assessment of a person's skills and behavior.
Attends regular staff meetings, trainings, supervisory conferences and any other assigned meetings.

Schedules are subject to change due to the needs of the program. Assignments to other IRAs / work locations are subject to change to ensure safe minimums. If/When directed to work at another site, the agency will reimburse the Federal amount for mileage between the sites. The expectation of this position is that staff will remain awake and perform duties as per the or as assigned.
In the event of a weather, health or other emergency situation, staff may be REDEPLOYED as need to provide necessary staffing coverage. This may include a redeployment/temporary reassignment to another physical location or line of business, i.e Day Habilitation staff may be redeployed to work in an IRA temporarily.
Assures confidentiality of information about people.
Interacts with people's families, other stakeholders and the community-at-large as appropriate.

Completion of 5 days (40hrs) of orientation with the RCA Competency being completed before the staff member works on their own.
Staff members should be completing their orientation (40 hrs) and working simultaneously on the RCA Modules on Relias.
Staff members may work on their own after completing their (40 hrs) of orientation and the RCA Competency is completed upon completion of orientation. They can continue working on the Relias modules and post tests while working and must complete them within 21 days from their start date.

This role offers a collaborative team environment and active community engagement. * Follows through on any behavior management program as established for individuals. * Completes and maintains accurate documentation relating to the various services provided to our individuals and the progress they have established. * Communicates individual needs to Family Support Services Family Support Coordinator. * Must be able to work flexible hours, on occasion to accommodate recreation outing and activities. * Attend staff meetings and in-service training programs. * Complies with agency incident reporting policies and procedures. * Maintains confidentiality of individual information in accordance with the requirements of NYS Mental Hygiene law and the Agency's HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures * Perform any other duties as requested by your supervisor.
