The Specialist, Child Care Provider will be the "Acting Director" of the Tim & Brenda Huval Child Care Center as per a licensing each evening, teacher in the afternoon, and in the evening program. The position is responsible to make the day-to-day operational decisions regarding licensing regulations and be able to simply apply licensing standards. All staff is required to adhere to licensing standards. The Specialist will apply NAC or NAEYC Accreditation Standards. Responsibilities include many clerical and classroom tasks. The Specialist will be in the classroom the majority of the time but also office support.
As a teacher applicant will provide children birth to twelve (12) years of age with excellent child care and appropriate guided play-based learning experiences. Work with other team members, and under minimal supervision of the Assistant Director/ Director, provide comprehensive care while incorporating curriculum into planned play.
In addition to complying with the child care licensing rules, applicants must be able to write weekly lesson plans, work with children on goals, maintain both child portfolios and progress documentation.
Applicant will ensure children are making progress toward school readiness by performing formal observations, writing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and scaffolding that learning to ensure milestones are met.
Applicant will be able to manage the routine of the children's needs and standards of Accreditation, work in the classroom directly supervising the children while following the curriculum, accreditation standards, licensing regulations, writing lesson plans, performing observations, planning, and implementing Parent Teacher Conferences, and paperwork associated with teaching young children.
Must be able to manage a classroom successfully, conduct parent teacher meetings and work closely with the families to support children's learning. Applicant must be able to communicate with parents daily.
Each teacher is expected to monitor the classroom, attend monthly trainings and classes that correlate with accreditation and licensing standards. Teachers are responsible for paperwork associated with progressing children on individual goals.
This lead teacher is responsible for establishing relationships with their teams, which are often new staff members and students. Teacher must mentor other staff by modeling and explaining techniques that are developmentally appropriate and align with the accreditation and state standards. They will need to be the Lead of their classroom and complete assigned paperwork associated with this.

Part-time work of 20 plus hours weekly for 1 year can count toward 6 months of full-time experience.
Part-time work will be considered toward the years of experience. For example, working 125 hours monthly for 1 year will be worth 9 months of full-time work (30 months of part time experience at 125 monthly=2 years full time).
* Must be a minimum of 21 years old per Bureau of Child Care Licensing requirements.
* Successfully pass required background checks per Bureau of Child Care Licensing, TB test and basic physical (per NAC Accreditation requirements).
Preferred Qualifications

**About the Role**
Guided by the six principles of the CARE model, the Senior Youth Worker role will support the House Manager in the day-to-day operations of the residential and Semi Independent Living (SIL's) programs. Most importantly, you will ensure that we are creating a safe, culturally appropriate and healing environment for children and young people.
This is a hands-on role with most time spent on-site across the houses in the Springwood region. This role will require shift work at times, including occasional weekends when required, with penalty rates applied to those weekend shifts. You will also be responsible for the administrative and reporting requirements for the house. There will also be a requirement to undertake some case management tasks in consultation with the House Manager.
You will provide a mentorship role to a team of Residential Support Workers in providing purposeful support to young people in residential care and SILs, with high and complex needs. You will strive to enhance the lives of young people in a 24/7 residential setting, incorporating a therapeutic, trauma informed approach within the daily structure and purposeful programming.
Our Senior Youth Workers are required to have extensive experience supporting people with complex trauma and pain-based behaviours including drug use, engaging in risk taking and possibly socially isolating behaviour.
This role is being offered as a **permanent full-time** position located in **Springwood,** and servicing our homes located between the Northern end of the Gold Coast and Logan region.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Build professional, trusting relationships with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement.

Physical effort: Work involves lifting and working on production including standing, reaching, bending, stooping and manipulating carrying of items weighing up to 45 pounds lines at rhythmic pace for extended periods parts and using machines and hand tools. During fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms.
Working Conditions: Work is usually performed indoors, or outdoors in covered areas or passageways which provide some protection. Work areas are usually well lighted and ventilated. Some operations, however, such as melting powder or steaming out powder, cause uncomfortable steam or heat in the work area. Workers are required to stand on floors made of concrete, lead or conductive composition. They wear protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, respirators and goggles on many assignments. They are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in powder working areas. They are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fire. There is chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to bums, cuts, bruises, sprains and nausea.
