An Agency Respite Care Provider is responsible for providing non-medical personal care, assistance and companionship for clients who require supervision for reason of developmental disabilities, intellectual deficiencies, or other health-related conditions.
Essential Job Functions:
Assistance with clients' Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Ambulation, Transfers & Gait Assistance
Provides hands-on and/or stand-by assistance to ensure that client transfers and ambulates safely (includes assistance with the proper use of ambulation aids, such as walkers, wheelchairs, gait belts, etc.).
Grooming and Hygiene- Provides client hands-on and/or stand-by assistance with general hygiene and other grooming activities (washing hands & face, etc.).
Meal Preparation/Nutritional Support- Follows nutritional and meal planning guidelines to assist with preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or snacks to ensure proper nutritional intake.
Dressing- Provides hands-on and/or stand-by assistance with changes of client's clothing as needed.
Toileting- May include assisting on/off toilet or commode; assisting with use of urinal or bedpan; changing diapers/briefs; and ensuring cleanliness as needed.
Engages client in appropriate conversations (caregiver is to avoid personal disclosures about self, and
discussions about client's family).
If parents request, teach, train and encourage client to do perform tasks and learn skills as directed
Entertains client by reading newspapers or books, playing memory games, completing puzzles, etc.
Follow parent instruction's in working and dealing with client's behavioral issues, i.e. re-direction, avoidance, withdrawal, and aggression.
Compliance with agency policies related to all areas of privacy and confidentiality, including HIPAA laws

DEFINITION

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom. Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite. If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
* Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.
* Assist in the development of a diversified preschool curriculum of music, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, literature, and recreational activities.
* Plan and lead a variety of activities appropriate to children of various age groups.
* Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
* Instruct children in the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment. Instruct children in proper health and hygiene care.
* Assist in the selection and arrangement of field trips, special events and guest speakers.
* Assist with the preparation of site nutrition program.
* Assist with developing discipline techniques and maintaining acceptable classroom behavior from participants.
* Drive/Transport children using City of Pacifica City vans.
* Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment.
* Inspect the site and equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries.

* Assist Site Supervisors with the evaluation process for Childcare Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers (I/II) that are assigned to their programs.
* Attend and participate in required in-service training activities.

The City's comprehensive benefits package includes:
Holidays: Thirteen (13) days per year.
Vacation: From 11 to 27 days per year, depending on length of service.
Sick leave: Accrual is one day per month, with no limit on accrual.
Retirement: The City contracts with CalPERS to provide a retirement plan that utilizes the formula of 2.5% @ 55 for "Classic members" or 2% @ 62 for "PEPRA members." Classic Members contribute 8% employee contribution plus 2.5% employer cost share for a total contribution of 10.5%. PEPRA members pay 6.75% employee contribution plus 2.5% employer cost share for a total contribution of 9.25%.
Insurance: The City provides its employees with a medical insurance allowance that allows employees to purchase medical insurance through either Teamsters Union #856 Health and Welfare or CalPERS medical benefits plan. ABOUT MARY SILVEIRA CHILDREN'S CENTER
Mary Silveira Children's Center is located on campus at Mary Silveira Elementary School and serves the Miller Creek School District. This is a year-round program, providing after-school care during the school year and transforming into a fun-filled summer camp during the summer months. The Childcare Division is seeking a full-time Child Care Instructor I/II to join our dynamic after school team, dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of young children. We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual who is passionate about childhood development and creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can thrive.

Child Care Instructor II:
* Completion of twelve (12) Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses.
* One (1) year working with children in a group setting.
* B.A. in recreation, education, or related field preferred.

* Possession of a valid California Driver's License preferred

This position is a regular position of the City's SEIU Local 1021 employee group and is eligible to receive benefits including but not limited to:
