    Primary responsibility in association with the Attending Physician, for the inpatient management of the pediatric neurology patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Responsibilities include completing history and physical examinations; ordering and interpreting radiological test results; prescribing medications; documenting patient care services within the EMR and departmental records; and performing procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated through competency. Coordinates a team approach of treatment for Epilepsy patients. Reports to the Neurology APP Manager. Job Specific Duties * Conducts medical rounds, oversees, implements, and documents the plan of care in collaboration with other disciplines and services to assure quality care/best practices in place. * Writes orders, monitors/alters drug therapies, and preforms other procedures within education and experience per established protocol. * Provides patient information and effectively completes the hand off process to MDs using SBAR at shift change and patient reassignments. * Maintains a high level of critical thinking and time management skills. Completes clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner of 24 hours. * Reviews all patient records prior to admission (i.e.; labs, consents, advance directives, custody documentation) in a timely and accurate manner. * Participates in State-wide Epilepsy programs, works to identify, create and implement programs that serve as early detection for treatable neuro conditions. * Provides mentoring in precepting APPs/ Medical Students/Residents; actively provides feedback and detailed description of areas. * Ensures zero-based medication errors by efficiently and accurately ordering medication following "Five Patient Rights of Medication Administration" and Medication Admin policies and standards. * Provides education to patient/families on the continuing plan of care to include medications and side effects, updates patient/families daily on Plan of Care (POC). * Accountable for all standard key metrics in measure of Epilepsy program coordination. Influences quality of patient care through research.
