Physical Requirements:

How You Make An Impact:
Provide weekly children's programing to residents, including educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
Collaborate closely with Service Coordinators and other program staff to develop individual service plans for each family and provide programmatic feedback.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, provide recreational and educational instruction and activities, social development, guidance and care for preschool and elementary age children by leading and assisting in the selection and coordination of a variety of activities and curriculum at a childcare site.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom. Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite. If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

Holidays: Thirteen (13) days per year.
Vacation: From 11 to 27 days per year, depending on length of service.

Retirement: The City contracts with CalPERS to provide a retirement plan that utilizes the formula of 2.5% @ 55 for "Classic members" or 2% @ 62 for "PEPRA members." Qualifications:
⦁ Completion of Home Health Aide and Housekeeping training required with at least one year of related work experience.
⦁ Must have an interest in working with older adults and disabled adults.
⦁ Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
⦁ Bilingual in English and Chinese.
⦁ Must pass health screening for TB clearance.
⦁ Familiar with different patient transferring techniques. Must pass a strength test for physical fitness for the job: able to lift up to 40lbs from floor to waist level.
⦁ First aid and CPR certificates preferred.
⦁ Must be able to travel via public transportation or personal vehicle for the performance of job duties. If driving must have and maintain a valid CA driver license, satisfactory driving record, and auto insurance coverage as specified in Self-Help's policy.

Overview of Position:
The Shark Squad Teacher generally work from 2:30 pm until 5:45 pm, Monday through Friday inside classrooms or on the playground. Shark Squad provides full-day childcare during conference days and in-service days when the regular school program is not in session. Shark Squad Teachers must commit to working some of these days.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
