SUMMARY: To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning before/after school program environment in which students can take full advantage of the activities and available resource materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in supervision of children at a District Child Care Program.
Assist with the daily operation of the program to continue meeting licensing, fire, and sanitation requirements.
Maintain a clean and neat program environment.
Use appropriate language with both children and parents.
Provide adequate supervision for both indoor and outdoor activities Practice appropriate discipline techniques with children.
Maintain a cooperative, flexible attitude accepting constructive criticism.
Maintain a professional manner including confidentiality and appropriate communication with all parties (staff, students and community).
Provide good examples for students with appropriate dress, grooming and cleanliness.
Arrive organized and prepared adequately for each day's activities.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
State Licensing Requirements as follows:
Must provide documentation of one of the following: High School diploma, G.E.D. or official transcript with degree confer date or proof of current and continuous enrollment in high school or a high school equivalency program - must be 16 years of age or older.
Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date
Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
EXPERIENCE:

What Your Days Will be Like:
As a Caregiver within our CareBenefits team, you will have the opportunity to care for children of multiple families in your area! Reporting to the Lead Teacher, the teaching team provides comprehensive high-quality early education and child development services for eight (8) mobile one-year old's and toddlers up to 36 months of age enrolled in the assigned classroom. Daily routines promote children's cognitive, social, health, and emotional growth for later success in school. The teacher receives regular on-going support from the Lead Teacher and the education specialist (coach) to implement the agency's Languages of Learning curriculum that includes creating a safe and enriching environment, embedding responsive and effective teacher-child interactions, and fostering partnerships with families by respecting values, strengths, and cultures and welcoming parent's contributions and participation. The teacher position is funded for eight hours per day Monday through Friday and works directly with children who may be in the classroom 8 - 10 hours per day, five days per week.
When working outside the classroom, the teaching team works together to plan and develop activities such as planning lessons, documenting children's work and outcomes, entering and analyzing child and family data, setting goals, and attending professional development opportunities.
The teacher is responsible for leading the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher.

STATEMENT OF JOB: This position supervises and cares for abused, abandoned and/or neglected children ages birth to 18 years that are in protective custody in residential at Our Children Shelter (Youth Group Home) of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. The Childcare Specialist shall ensure that resident's basic needs such as shelter, safety, food, and clothing are met in compliance as outlined in ABHS policies & procedures and residential manuals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists children with meals, bathing, hygiene, and other daily routine tasks.
Prepares and serves meals during scheduled shifts.
Supervises and accounts for children.
Develops, plans, supervises, and participates in daily recreational and social activities, including outdoor programs and physical exercise.
Implements the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and other facility policies, procedures, and techniques to assess and instruct children in positive behavior management, socialization, and living skills.
Observes and documents the behavior, development and needs of children.
Prepares incident and other written reports in a timely fashion.
Consults and communicates with shift leaders, supervisors and professional staff concerning behavior issues and the needs of children.
Performs housekeeping duties to ensure a neat, clean, and orderly environment, such as bed making, laundry, and takes inventory of clothes, linens, food, and supplies.
Gives verbal and physical reassurance and provides guidance to children in distress.
Interviews involved parties and/or responds to critical incidents and emergency situations.
Notifies Police immediately upon elopement.
Defuse adverse situations, both physically and emotionally after completion of CPI training.
Carries out daily living plans for children, developed by a multi-disciplinary team.
Transports and/or accompanies individual and groups of children to appointments or on field trips outside the facility in assigned company vehicle only.
Orders and restocks supplies with Supervisor approval.
Conducts group meetings with children to discuss facility/shelter rules and procedures, address concerns, and provides instructional information on appropriate behavior management and use of living skills.
Assists in the intake and release of children.
Work as a team member in maintaining a safe and healthy living environment in the shelter home.
Provides responsive, high-quality service to employees, representatives of outside agencies and members of the public by providing accurate, complete, and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner.
Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
