The Childcare Associate Teacher organizes and leads activities for children between the ages of six weeks and twelve years in the childcare center for the guests and employees of Jay Peak Resort. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned) Will primarily support the preschool and school age classroom but will also float in infant and toddler classrooms to offer support and cover breaks as needed Follows all center-based and preschool licensing requirements. Follows all the center's policies and procedures. Conducts opening and closing duties. Always supervises children and ensures safety. Displays the ability to communicate in a professional manner treating staff, children, and families with dignity, respect, and a friendly matter. Actively engages children in reading, games, creative play, painting, drawing, songs, and similar activities. Greets families, stores belongings and ensures they are labeled. Creates developmentally age-appropriate learning opportunities and assists in the development of curriculum. Uses positive guidance and behavioral management. Supports transition times. Manages diapering and toileting. Serves meals and snacks. Cleans, sanitizes, and organizes facility daily. Promotes best hygiene practices for self and children. Maintains daily tracking sheets - infant feeding, diaper changes, daily health checks. Answers incoming phone calls and assists guests in making accurate and complete reservations and process payments (when assigned). Attends staff meetings. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS A teacher associate is at least twenty (20) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications: At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or At least an associate degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or At least a Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; or At least a Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or At least successful completion of twenty-one (21) college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger. JOB STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Childcare Program Staff PAY: $14.01 per hour HOURS: 2:45 - 5:30 pm The After-School Program team is responsible for: Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework assistance. Providing a safe, healthy, clean, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program. Reporting to the program ready to work at designated times and be prepared to stay until the last child leaves the program. Communicating daily with parents and family members via the Playground App. Observing and following state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies. Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing. Requirements: MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferably 1 year of experience working with kids under 13. Medically cleared of any communicable diseases including TB. Must be warm, friendly, and upbeat. Exceptional people skills, professional, reliable, and prompt. Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, carry (up to 50 lbs.), and do whatever it takes to keep up with the children.
