The shipping attendant is responsible for the proper preparation and loading of all outgoing shipments of finished products, unloading of incoming shipments, maintenance of the shipping yard/workspace and transport of materials/finished products to appropriate department and/or storage location. This role works both independently, as well as part of a team. Responsibilities: * Supervision and Leadership: Assist the Supervisor in providing leadership, direction, and hands-on involvement to the shipping team. * Process Optimization: Communicate and enforce standards for process time, settings, and other specifications to enhance output and maintain quality conditions. * Performance Tracking: Provide tracking and feedback on results to the team and Supervisor, ensuring continuous improvement. * Quality Assurance: Examine outgoing shipments for any product defects, ensuring only high-quality products leave our facility. * Packaging: Assemble cardboard containers or use pre-assembled containers, insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. * Labeling and Documentation: Stamp or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto boxes or containers, post weights, shipping charges, and affix postage. * Material Transport: Transport materials and finished products to appropriate departments or storage locations. * Inventory Control: Assist the Shipping Technician in maintaining accurate inventory records. * Workspace Management: Maintain a neat and orderly work area and contribute to the cleanliness of the shipping yard. * Safety Compliance: Follow all safety requirements for the position and adhere to company policies and procedures. * Adaptability: Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. * Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of efficient shipping processes and provide ideas for improvement. * Flexibility: Perform all other duties as directed by management. Requirements: * Educational Skills: Reading, writing, and mathematical competency. * Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of progressive experience in a shipping or warehouse environment with strong attention to detail. * Forklift Operation: Prior forklift experience is essential. * Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable assistance. * Tool Proficiency: Ability to use hand tools such as electric saw, air nail gun, hammer, banding equipment, and crowbar. * Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well. * Mobility: Sufficient mobility to allow frequent entrance and exits from a lift truck. * Team Collaboration: Ability to work with the corporate office and cross-functional teams. * Preferred Skills: SAP and MS Excel experience is a plus.
