Job Description
The Child and Family Services Residential Program offers a supportive environment for up to 46 children across three specialized programs. Focused on healing and growth, our dedicated staff provides treatment in small-group settings, helping children and families overcome obstacles and address traumatic experiences that have impacted their ability to live at home. Through comprehensive care, treatment, and supervision, we equip children and families with the skills needed for a successful transition, either back to their home or to an alternative living arrangement.
The Child Care Therapy Aide establishes effective relationships with children living in residential programs to provide structure and routine and to assist with managing challenging behaviors. They function as part of a team as a teacher of life skills, planning and engaging children in meaningful group activities.
Responsibilities:
Model appropriate behavior and conflict resolution skills
Teach and coach residents in activities of daily living skills
Demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution skills in both organizational and interpersonal matters
Maintain positive working relationships with program staff and others within agency
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills during interactions with internal and external customers
Support and communicate with supervisor and co-workers in a courteous and cooperative manner

Relate positively and professionally with families and residents
Follow pre-established treatment plans
Assist in the planning and implementation of age and developmentally appropriate programming through meaningful activities, recreational outings, etc. that are appropriate to the goal objectives and methods outlined in the treatment plan
Supervise and assist in transporting children as required
Monitor and help ensure a safe and secure environment for the children
Implement appropriate infection control procedures
Respond calmly and objectively in situations involving children with extreme/sustained behaviors
Transport residents to and from appointments and activities
Overnight staff are responsible for providing appropriate supervision, including bed checks, no more than 10 minutes apart
Utilize appropriate techniques of behavior management and crisis interventions as indicated in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention guidelines; implement strategies to address escalating behaviors; i.e. time-out, discussion, conflict resolution
Complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
Complies with all agency policies and procedures
Shift Information: Full-Time (40 hours) 2pm-12am; Part-Time schedule and hours are varied based on need

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Required. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Human Services, education or other related field of study preferred
Valid NYS driver's license and continued automobile insurance required

In some circumstances, restraints can last up to 15 minutes and may require repetition as necessary.

Maintaining the goal to reunite the child in foster care with their family of origin while concurrently planning for other permanency routes for the child if reunification is not possible.
Completing, at minimum, monthly home visits with the youth in their foster home based on the child's level of care associated with their needs
Make monthly contact with all identified parents of the youth in foster care
Scheduling and facilitating visitation between parents and youth in foster care and siblings of the youth who may be placed in an alternate setting

About the Role
The Clinical Specialist plays a vital clinical and program development role in strengthening the foster care program's Skill Building services as required under NYS Department of Health 29-I regulations. This position supports children and youth in developing social, emotional, behavioral, and daily living skills while also providing clinical consultation and guidance to foster parents, case planners, and team members.
In addition to providing direct Skill Building interventions-especially during times when graduate interns are not available or when urgent needs arise-the Clinical Specialist will develop and lead an enhanced Skill Building model that integrates and oversees Master's-level interns (MSW, MHC, MFT, and related disciplines). This role blends direct clinical work, consultation, program improvement, and leadership in service design.
The Qualified Candidate will have:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field required
3+ years post-graduate clinical experience with children/young adults preferred
Early-career clinicians with strong foundational experience will be considered

Position Summary:
The Domestic Violence Intake and Resource Navigator provides both individual and group financial literacy and coaching assistance to survivors of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Intake and Resource Navigator is responsible for providing community financial education, completing intakes with shelter residents, and assisting in the file review process. The Domestic Violence Intake and Resource Navigator works a varied schedule which consists of regular evening hours and occasional weekend outreach events.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Conduct individual financial coaching with survivors of domestic violence in areas such as credit education, budgeting, resume building, and job readiness.
Provide education and assistance regarding employment searches, school enrollment, job training programs, etc.
Advocate for survivors of domestic violence and link with community resources and services as appropriate
Conduct community outreach and provide education and training on domestic violence and financial abuse to finance professionals, business, and the community organizations.
Develop curriculum for and coordinate financial education groups for clients at Haven House and in the community.
Review and complete intakes of all new residents in shelter and provide linkage and referral to public entitlements, community resources, and advocacy services.
Assist with monthly audits of residential files to ensure documentation is complete and community linkages and referrals have been provided to residents.
Maintain necessary records, statistical information, activity sheets, documentation, logs that are pertinent to the position and to the program to ensure the flow of communication.
Engage in all required supervision, training, and team meetings at Haven House
Promote the empowerment of all people as defined by the Social Work profession and Domestic Violence Movement, adhering to the principles of trauma-informed care.

Minimum Requirements:

When reunification is not possible, our program helps secure permanency through adoption. Position Summary:
The Foster Parent Recruitment and Emergency Placement Specialist is a dual-role position responsible for recruiting and certifying foster parents for both general and after-hours placement needs. The Specialist also coordinates emergency placements outside traditional business hours and serves as the liaison with Erie County Department of Social Services (ECDSS) for after-hours Child Protective Services (CPS) situations. This role requires flexible availability, including the ability to respond to after-hours placements that occur outside regular business hours including weekends.
During the last 12 months, there have been an average of 2 after-hours placement calls per month with an average stay of 3 days.
Major Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Certification
Respond to inquiries and conduct initial assessments of prospective foster parents
Actively recruit foster parents through a variety of community engagement and outreach strategies including attendance at community events that may occur during evenings and weekends
Coordinate and conduct informational meetings (individual and group)
Facilitate and coordinate initial and ongoing foster parent training sessions
Become an approved National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) trainer within 12 months of hire
Complete timely home study assessments and certification documentation
Maintain accurate training and certification records for all foster homes
Assist with planning and delivery of foster parent appreciation and engagement events
Emergency Placement & On-Call Support
Recruit and maintain a pool of certified emergency foster homes and monitor capacity to adhere to ECDSS contractual requirements
Respond to and coordinate with ECDSS CPS staff and emergency foster homes for after-hours placement needs and be available for telephone consultation on a frequent basis and less frequently for in person consultation
Regularly communicate with emergency foster homes to ensure they have adequate supplies for immediate placements of children of all ages and support the homes on a regular basis to ensure children's needs are met
Facilitate transitions to longer-term placements when applicable
Must be available 24/7 to address emergency placement needs as communicated by ECDSS or the foster homes unless a preapproved backup coverage plan is in place
General Support and Collaboration
Maintain open communication with foster families, colleagues, and county partners
Ensure compliance with all state and agency policies and procedures
Use required database[s] and other communications protocols to share information with the team and to document foster home openings, reauthorizations, and closures

Child and Family Services (C+FS) Family Visitation Program supports parents working toward reunification with their children who are currently in the care of relatives or other caregivers.
The Family Visitation Coach guides parents in building healthy, nurturing relationships with their children through supervised visits. Visitation Coaches help parents strengthen positive parenting skills, encourage meaningful interaction, and provide coaching that supports family progress.
Family Visitation Coaches schedule and supervise visits at our Buffalo and Cheektowaga offices and frequently assist with transporting children to and from visits using agency vehicles when available. Family Visitation Coaches provide modeling and support to parents to help address any communication or relationship challenges between parents and the family members/caregivers with whom their children to improve outcomes for children and minimize any barriers towards family reunification. This position communicates and collaborates with referral sources to ensure successful service provision and family outcomes. Position Summary:
We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to support and monitor the physical and mental health of children and adolescents in our Residential Treatment Facility. In this full-time role, you'll provide direct care, manage medications, coordinate medical appointments, and work closely with our clinical team to ensure every resident receives the highest quality care in a safe, supportive environment.
As the Residential RN you will:
Work with Pediatrician/Psychiatrist/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to address health care concerns
Treat all minor illnesses; provide emergency first aid when necessary and notify Physician of all acute illnesses and emergencies requiring immediate medical attention
Arrange clinic appointments for Pediatrician and all medical referrals including intake, annual and discharge physical and dental examinations for each resident
Inform Nursing Supervisor, Residential Treatment Facility Medical Director and Pediatrician of results of all clinic visits
Monitor and complete all ongoing medical charts and immunization records in a timely fashion
Complete necessary medical reports for outside agencies or schools
Implement prescribed orders for treatment, medication and referral; administer all prescription medications for residents; which includes maintaining daily documentation of all medication administration records
Support living unit staff as required
Actively participate in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training and updates, and implement lower level techniques effectively and appropriately
Use physical intervention appropriately and safely
Write event reports correctly and in a timely manner
