We have over 30 outpatient behavioral health locations nestled throughout our communities located in Kern County, Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego County.

Pathways is seeking an innovative and purpose driven individual to join our team as a Sub-Contracted Psychiatrist (8-12 hours weekly) for our Project Cornerstone located in San Diego.
Cornerstone


is a school-based, full service partnership (FSP) program serving Medi-cal eligible and unfunded youth (*ages 5-21) and their families. Cornerstone is currently partnered with 14 school sites within San Diego Unified School District and serves the Mid-City area of San Diego. Services include individual therapy, family therapy, case management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation and medication management.

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing culturally appropriate psychiatric and medication management services to program clients which includes evaluation and assessment, diagnoses, and prescription of medication and monitoring medication side effects and participation in treatment process. Will supervise nurse practitioner and RNs. Will also provide supervision input on LVNs and RNs.


DO THE FOLLOWING APPLY TO YOU?



Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) received from an accredited medical school. Board Certified in psychiatry or eligible for the certification examination in psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Independently licensed to practice medicine in the State of California. Must have completed a two year psychiatry fellowship; with emphasis on children preferred. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, ability to lead and direct work of others, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate level PC skills required.



ABOUT YOUR ROLE



Completes psychiatric medication assessments, multi-axial diagnosis and documentation including assessments, evaluation, diagnosis and follow-up notes meeting all the standards of the company, and County, State and Federal regulatory boards. Assesses for clinical conditions and refer out for medical conditions. Address medical concerns as they relate to psychotropic medication prescribed. Provides psychiatric services to program participants for 16 hours weekly Identifies clients’ current MORS and provides services that will facilitate movement to a lower level of care. Evaluates all clients entering the program for medical and behavioral health needs. Acts as psychiatric consultant to staff members of other disciplines providing assessment as needed. Completes documentation, as soon as service is provided and ensure that it meets the standards established in the program and MediCal and Medicare. Provides staff training in-services as needed. Provides crisis intervention. Attends monthly treatment teams to discuss case planning for clients and movement to a lower level of care.

General Job Description
*The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric services, including assessment/evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in assigned areas, to a diverse patient population as an independent practitioner. The Psychiatrist also provides consultation and support to primary care providers in integrated behavioral health sites for in the management of primary care patients with mental health concerns. Job Roles
*Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients' insurance requirements.
*Maintains satisfactory peer reviews: able to assess medical information including pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, etc., in order to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention.
*Meets clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner; prioritizes work and makes an effort to adhere to schedule.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
*Provides comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of patients with mental illness, emotional disorders and/or substance abuse. As needed, examines patients to determine presence of physical disease utilizing physical finds, laboratory results and medical history. Maintains the appropriate productivity expectation based on contract, program or clinic assignment.
*Works effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Communicates with providers, physicians, case managers, scheduling staff, referring providers, and with outside agencies and authorities, in a timely and appropriate manner. Coordinates and links psychiatric treatment plan with both FHCSD therapy, case management, primary care "medical home," and with community support systems as appropriate. In integrated behavioral health sites, provides consultation and support to primary care providers in the management of primary care patients with mental health concerns.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
*Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.
*Board Certification in Psychiatry preferred.
*Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
*DEA license
*Graduate from an accredited school of medicine; completion of a 3 year residency in General Psychiatry OR current status as a 3rd year resident in a General Psychiatry program.
*Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
*1 year experience working in Psychiatry preferred; experience with underserved, low-income persons, or homeless persons preferred.
*Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary community health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.
*Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.
*Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
*Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on appointments, etc.).
*Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
*Clinical skills appropriate to scope of practice and clinical judgment necessary to implement the treatment plan.
*Demonstrated medical/psychiatric knowledge and clinical skills, including ability to assess both medical and psychiatric information including patient presentation, differential diagnosis, and psychopharmacology needs.
