Responsibilities
* Assists in planning, preparation and implementation of work with children appropriate to development level based on RC3; includes developing curriculum, completing child assessments, maintaining records, etc.
* Becomes familiar with routine of each classroom in which he/she may work.
* Assumes responsibility for daily classroom program in Teacher's absence. Shares responsibility of setting up room for daily activities. Provides attractive and functional learning centers.

* Requires the acquisition of knowledge and proficiency of the Head Start Electronic Information System and/or Redelearner Database within the introductory period of employment. Education and Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent required, Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate's degree in child development or related field required, Bachelors degree preferred

Conduct ongoing assessments and collect work samples and documentation for each child's portfolio.
Maintain all required record keeping such as transition sheets, daily sheets, medication forms, portfolio and assessments, accident and incident reports, etc.
Establish routines and use positive and constructive guidance methods to reinforce appropriate behavior.
Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information continuously.
Maintain positive informal and formal communication with families daily.
Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child's family and encourage their involvement in the program.
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences, and other staff development.
Report to the Director or Leadership team any special needs or concerns with children, parents, or other staff members.
Perform general custodial responsibilities for the classroom.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Experience working in an early childhood facility.
Knowledge and experience working with young children.
Knowledge of First Aid as well as Infant and Child CPR.
Ability to be perceptive and aware of all children in your care at all times.
Understanding of child development and early childhood developmental milestones.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of children, families, co-workers, and the school.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and the school.
Meet education and experience requirements of state licensing regulations.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Ability to see children and their environment and hear all types of sounds.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds, move furniture, sit on the floor or child-sized furniture, and sustain long hours of active work such as bending, standing, or walking.
Willingness to work in an environment where they may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious.
Be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Helps and supervises children during all activities
Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities
Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
Helps children with meal times and clean-up
Helps with all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
Helps prepare and implement classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules
Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years of OR must be in a high school work study program relating to the area of child care
Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
Highly professional and dependable
Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management
Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high
