Keep the buses clean and in an orderly condition. Be fair and firm with discipline of your passengers and be mindful of the safety of student riders when they are approaching, entering, riding, and leaving the bus. Knowledge of rules pertaining to the transportation of school children with responsibility to advise the students on the bus of the rules and the infractions. Responsibility to be courteous, pleasant and demonstrate respect for all students, school personnel, parents and the general motoring public. Responsibility to immediately report unusual incidents or events and to follow the directions provided by the Dispatcher. Report to work as scheduled or before in order to prepare the bus and start the route on time regardless of weather conditions. Board, transport, and discharge passengers. May lift handicapped passengers and assist passengers into and out of bus as required by Transportation Services Department policy and procedure. May operate a mechanized wheelchair lift. Ensure that students and equipment are safely fastened in seats, when necessary. Maintain and update current student and trip routes. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
