The Department of Ophthalmology at Boston Children's Hospital offers the latest and best in diagnostics and care for children with vision problems. The department has 29 ophthalmologists, nine optometrists, and nine orthoptists on staff. Our experts have pioneered specialized diagnostic and surgical techniques for babies and children. We see more than 40,000 outpatients each year, and more than 1,500 surgical procedures are performed annually in our 11 locations.

We're looking for an intern to join the Global.health team within the Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator (IDHA) at Boston Children's Hospital. This will be a hybrid position, with the expectation that interns are onsite most Tuesdays. Tentative program dates are February 2 - December 3, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
* The Global.health Curation Team works closely with project managers, who set the scope, scale, and timeline of outbreak response
* Curators compile epidemiological outbreak data from openly-accessible sources to create a standardized line-list dataset; curators may also integrate other data types including, animal outbreak data, genomic data, wastewater data, climate data, and response.
* Curators contribute to a sourcing strategy to find trusted media sources and identify, vet, and log relevant outbreak information.
* Curators consistently apply methods and best practices to ensure high-quality data.
* Curators contribute to project status updates with G.h partner organizations and our community through newsletters and other written and oral communications.
* Provide occasional ad hoc support to other IDHA projects, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in epidemiology, statistics, public health or related field.
Experience:
* Familiarity in epidemiology, data entry, and analysis.
* Technical proficiency in MS Office required; familiarity with Google Drive, Slack, Github preferred.
* Critical and logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Responsibilities
Under direction of the Office Manager, Clinical Coordinator or designee and the Medical Assistant Scope of practice, perform a variety of medical assisting duties both within and in support of the assigned Medical Office(s) within Southcoast Physicians Group. Under the supervision of primary care providers/nurses, and in collaboration with clinic team members and patients and families (as defined by patient), provide the highest quality of care and treatment for all patients. Assist providers with patient care and procedures. Facilitate efficient flow of patients through the clinic or medical office. May be responsible for telephone communication with patients including communication of test results, surgery schedules, procedures and providing appropriate counsel and follow-up under the direction of a designated supervisor. Utilize an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other related software to update and/or access patient information, as appropriate. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
* Must be enrolled in Medical Assistant track at a technical high school and status qualifies for cooperative program with evidence of specialized courses and training.
* BLS certification is required.
* Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
* Completion of three (3) years of medical assistance program in technical school and eligibility criteria met for cooperative program is required.
* Satisfactory enrollment criteria met for cooperative program at technology school is required.
* Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
