Full-Time 601 Children's Lane Administrative/Clerical Days/Evenings 17.0100 Through 25.5200 * Under direction of departmental leadership, the Patient Access Technician provides clerical and secretarial support for the patientcare team and serves as a patient liaison for medical support services. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems.
* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area.
* Facilitates the revenue cycle process to include but not limited to patient registration, insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions.
* Works collaboratively with various departments on patient access related information.
* Conducts pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
* Provides coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location or by task assignment based on operational needs.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
* None required.
* MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 2 - 3 years of related work experience preferred.
* Minimum of six months customer service experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
* Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/ CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.
* Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
* Demonstrates proficiency in computer keyboarding skills required.
* Must be able to travel to varying work locations as needed.
* WORKING CONDITIONS
* Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent potential exposure to illness through routine work environment within a patientcare area.

General Description of the Job Class
Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
Assist radiologist with procedure protocoling and performance. Start I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of acquisition and label appropriately.
Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
Charge MR procedures and supplies in EHR
Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
Maintain accurate patient records.
Provide orientation for new technologists

Understand and use the Image Archival System
Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as required.
Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
Assist radiologist with procedure performance. Administer contrast media or as directed and per protocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately.
Coordinate scheduling and patient flow involving multiple MR sites.
Assist with education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, and fellows, attending's) if Applicable.
Assist radiologists and physicists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques that are unique to DUHS
Help facilitate research for the Duke Health System by scanning and using protocols given. Demonstrate proficiency in the 100+ MR protocols in the Health System. Teach the correct application of these protocols to new technologists, physicians, and researchers.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Previous Med Passer experience required
Ability to read, write, speak & understand the English language
Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks
Ability to make decisions and act in the resident's best interest
Ability to react and remain calm in difficult situations
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)
Previous experience working with seniors preferred and desire to serve and care for seniors
Competent in organizational and time management skills

Full-Time 12705 McManus Blvd Administrative/Clerical Days 17.0100 Through 25.5200 is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. * The Patient Registration Technician greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area or through telecommunication devices. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems. Performs patient scheduling, registration processes, insurance verification, maintains account information, co-payments, referrals, authorizations, and billing inquiry functions. Reports to Manager/Supervisor.
* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Renders exceptional customer service to parents, patients, visitors and co-workers.
* Serves as patient liaison for healthcare services.
* Assists in maintaining medical records, filing systems, account balances and reconciliation of days accounts receivable.
* May perform charge entry and charge batching processes as necessary.
* Provides clerical and secretarial support.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
* None required.
* MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 2-3 years related work experience preferred.
* Ability to relate well with the public.
* Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
* Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
* Knowledge of computer data entry processes required.
* General knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred.
* WORKING CONDITIONS
* Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
