    Full-Time 601 Children's Lane Inpatient Nursing Days 40.1200 Through 60.1900 * The RN Specialty Clinical Supervisor coordinates and is accountable for access, rapid and efficient triage, and physical and staff resources to direct the flow of patients and staff to assure patients are clinically managed, and the clinic runs efficiently and produces quality patient outcomes. Demonstrates excellence in nursing practice characterized by quality patient care, and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education. Reports to the designated manager. * ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * General supervision of clinical staff, to include hiring, performance management, timesheet approval, employee requests, and issues. * Responsible for the selection, education, competencies, and orientation of clinical staff in the specialty practice. * Schedules and conducts regular staff meetings to keep staff apprised of relevant information. * Ensures adequate staffing and schedule oversight based on clinical patient volumes and acuity. * Oversees on-site (Point of care) laboratory testing in conjunction with the lab. * Executes three stages of supervision: communication (with the opportunity to ask and have questions answered), oversight, and outcomes evaluation. * Understands specific clinical guidelines applicable to the specialty practice area and the ability to locate best practice guidelines. * Provides leadership in the specialty practice and acts as a resource and role model for clinical excellence. * Reviews nursing documentation and maintains standards regarding hospital policy on documentation, including educating staff to document standards. * Works closely with and under the clinical guidance of the practicing physician(s). * Performs other duties as assigned. * LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS * Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license. * MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through the completion of an accredited School of Nursing. * Technical and professional knowledge and skills unique to the business and/or clinical operations of the designated services usually acquired through 3 - 5 years' progressive Clinical/Supervisory experience in the particular specialty area preferred. * Pediatric experience preferred. * CPR certification required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. * WORKING CONDITIONS * Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures.
