Under the direction of the Division of Neonatology, the Neonatal Physician Assistant (NPA) & Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides medical management of neonatal patients with a variety of diagnoses in the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or other locations at CHKD or in contracted facilities where NICU and/or general nursery patients are cared for. Reports to department leadership.
* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient, family and staff education.
* Performs a complete history and physical on new admissions and daily examinations and documents findings in medical record.
* Generates problem lists and differential diagnoses based on clinical findings.
* Creates a comprehensive treatment plan including laboratory, diagnostic testing and medications as indicated.
* Effectively utilizes healthcare resources and communicates with other members of the healthcare team to provide family support, and discharge planning.
