Essential Functions:
Ascertains validity of reports of child abuse and neglect applying Va. Law and policy.
Assesses the situation with regard to the presence of imminent threat to the child's life, health and/or safety to determine urgency of response.
Analyzes complex human behavior in initial contact with families.
Selects the optimal crisis intervention method to de-escalate violent or volatile situations when they arise.
Sets clear boundaries for clients who are intimidating, defiant, and possibly dangerous.
Observes and documents the effects of family behavior and environmental factors on the child.
Balances the use of CPS statutory authority with the need to determine the least invasive intervention to protect the child and enhance family functioning.
Demonstrates attentiveness, reassurance, empathy, and congruence in thinking, feeling, and acting to create a stable, rational atmosphere conducive to cooperation and engagement.
Communicates the CPS complaint and the agency's role in child protection clearly and honestly to the alleged abuser and the family.
Interviews family members to assess and document information regarding strengths, mental and physical development, abuse history, parenting skills, perceptions of reported incident, violence, and family and community support.
Assesses the role of drug or alcohol abuse in individual and family dysfunction and intervenes for the protection of children and the rehabilitation of chemically dependent individuals and their codependent family systems when applicable.
Evaluates the reliability and accuracy of information gathered from family members and determines level of risk after the initial period of crisis intervention.
Continues to revise safety assessment of the child throughout the investigative/assessment period.
Gathers, assess, and/or disseminates sensitive, collateral information about the family from a variety of sources according to Va. Confidentiality law and policy and respecting family privacy.
Analyzes and interprets pertinent professional reports and other data.
Refers clients for services to other human service agencies such as substance abuse services, mental and physical health providers, employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, etc.
Mediates among involved legal, medical, law enforcement, educational and mental health professionals.
Makes determination regarding conditions of abuse, neglect, and/or safety of the child at 45-60 days.
Determines future risk to the child and makes decisions as to the course of action to ensure the child's future safety, which may include recommendations for removal and the actual removal of the child from the parent(s) when necessary according to Va. Law and policy.
Provides coverage after hours and on weekends, on an on-call basis, for emergencies involving abuse or neglect of children and adolescents, and for situations requiring immediate attention regarding children in the legal custody of the Department of Social Services.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field; or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field and minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
Experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of a BSW or MSW degree, or other Master's degree, and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Work license.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Workers in this position are required to drive and they must meet eligibility requirements of the County's safe driver policy.
Delivers work to the public typically in clients' home, often in remote rural areas.
Frequent contacts with clients and coordination with other public and private agencies (I.e. school, courts, clinics, etc.) are required.
Involves frequent driving, walking, and standing. Must be able to assist physically dependent individuals.
Remote Work:
This position is not eligible for a remote work schedule. All County staff must maintain residence within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Salary Range:
The hiring range for this position is $35.00 - $38.69 per hour (approx. $72,802 - $80,466 per year). Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. The position also provides excellent benefits including 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, VRS retirement, and continuing education/training opportunities. This is a full time, FLSA non-exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.

JOB DUTIES (SUMMARY):
* Responds to and completes Specialized and Third-Party Assessments of child safety in response to Intake Reports of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect of children when the maltreater is responsible for the care of a child in an out-of-home care setting (i.e. school teacher, day camp counselor, foster parent, kinship provider, pre- finalized adoptive parent, employee of a residential facility, licensed/approved child care provider or facility), has access to child by virtue of his/her employment or affiliation with an institution (i.e. Boy/Girl Scout leader, athletic coach), or has a potential conflict of interest with agency (i.e. employee, contract provider).
* Conducts face to face interviews with children, caregivers/parents/out of home caretakers, alleged maltreaters and witnesses. Collects pertinent collateral information from other persons, service providers, and community partners. Consults with Placement, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), law enforcement, licensing authorities, and other collateral parties as necessary.
* Provides recommendations relating to the ongoing use of an out of home care provider and/or conditions of corrective action. Makes licensing recommendations to licensing entities. Completes required notifications to out of home care settings and licensing and supervising authorities. Assessment shall include pertinent information collection from all parties regarding alleged maltreatment, surrounding circumstances, adult and child functioning, parenting practices, and discipline to ensure an accurate safety determination. Visits are conducted in homes, schools, hospitals, and other community settings as required.
* Responds to and completes Ongoing Assessments of child safety in response to Intake Reports of physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and dependency screened in on Cases receiving Ongoing case management services. Works collaboratively with Ongoing staff who have primary case responsibility.
* Meets mandated timeframes and in accordance with federal, state and agency policy.
* Reviews previous Children's Services history, criminal history, court involvement and other applicable information for all individuals associated with Intake report.
* Conducts and engages families in face-to-face interviews with all children in the household of assessment, parent/caregiver(s), and alleged maltreater(s) to determine child safety. Conducts interviews in homes, schools, hospitals, and other community settings as required. Assessment shall include pertinent information collection from all parties regarding alleged maltreatment, surrounding circumstances, adult and child functioning, parenting practice and discipline to ensure an accurate safety determination.
* In consultation with supervisor, conducts informed response to Intake Reports, assesses and determines child safety at every contact, identifies present and impending danger threats to child safety, and determines the disposition of the Intake Report within mandatory time frames.
* Gathers information and analyzes parent/caregiver/placement provider protective capacities.
* Partners with family and/or treatment team to develop and implement safety plans (present danger and impending danger) for children determined not to be safe.
* When necessary, seeks medical evaluation of alleged child victims and completes referrals to law enforcement
* Responsible for written documentation of assessment activities within required time frames including but not limited to Safety and Family Assessments, Ongoing and Specialized Assessments, Activity Logs, and Present Danger and Impending Danger Safety Plans.
* Responsible for other mandated paperwork as outlined by state regulations and agency policy.
* Consults with the Prosecutors office and seeks Court intervention as needed. Prepares Requests for Legal Action and provides court testimony to support Children's Services position. Responsible for case presentation at Dispositional Appeal Hearings and Foster Home Quality Review. Attends all relevant Dependency and Criminal Court Hearings as related to case assignments. Participates in Child Abuse Team Meeting with Children's
* Hospital Child Abuse Team when necessary
* Attends required training. Must attend and complete Caseworker CORE Training within first year of employment and thirty-six hours for every year thereafter. Must attend twelve hours of Domestic Violence Training and Human Trafficking Training within first two years of employment.

Essential Duties:

Intervenes where staff are not complying with child development standards and library values, procedures, and policies.
Provides exemplary customer service by answering directional and reference questions, providing reader's advisory services, locating materials, processing hold requests, monitoring behavior of library customers, and ensuring that the library is neat and orderly.
Performs clerical duties common to a library environment such as issuing library cards, collecting of lost item fines, answering telephone, renewing materials, etc.
Initiates Inter-library loan requests by verifying materials not in library consortium and placing request.
Facilitates and encourages professional development opportunities for Youth Services staff.
Facilitates department participation in signature events and community collaborations.
Instructs and assists customers in how to use Public Access Catalog terminal and other Library equipment.
Participates in Downtown Newark Youth Services long-range planning, departmental goal-setting, collection development, and development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Evaluates Downtown Newark equipment, materials, services, programs, procedures, and recommends purchases and changes to the Deputy Director.
Identifies library needs in the Downtown Newark community as it relates to youth services and program needs.
Plans and conducts outreach activities with local schools in the Downtown Newark area; visits classrooms to promote activities.
Identifies and analyzes local emerging community issues, needs, and interests to determine departmental programming direction.
Directly coordinates departmental youth services programming at Downtown Newark.
Inputs department programming information into the Library's online program calendar and composes engaging descriptions.

In this key leadership role, you will oversee Site Services and Ore Haulage operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-coordinated day-to-day activities in a remote mining environment.

Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties
* Maintain safe working conditions.
* Be a leader in the field (Lead and control activities of Site Services and Ore Haulage personnel including training, coaching and development).
* Supervise the Site Services and Ore Haulage Personnel, delegate tasks and assist to ensure day-to-day operations are running efficiently.
* Overseeing Work Planning and Execution of Site Services, Ore Haulage and Road Maintenance Personnel.
* Data entry and analysis of DWR information.
* Deal with employee and customer concerns .
* Ensure H&S policies and procedures are communicated, applied and enforced.
* Maintain the confidentiality of all Corporation information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervises Intact Family Services Case Managers by developing internal monitoring, weekly supervision, and evaluation processes.
Ensures effective and consistent communication occurs between the Intact Family Services Case Managers and all parties of the case and identified stakeholders, including medical, educational and mental health providers.
Ensures Intact Family Services Case Managers conduct visits with children, parents and/or caregivers that include the on-going assessment of child safety, permanency and well-being.
Ensures Intact Family Services Case Managers meet the requirements and service standards when facilitating delivery of services in collaboration with families and youth that adhere to agency, state, and federal policies/procedures
Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with state and federal laws, Department of Children and Families Administrative Codes and Operating Procedures, funding source policies and internal policies on child abuse, abandonment, and neglect within required timeframes.
