ChildServe company history timeline
Since our beginning in 1928, ChildServe’s location and name have changed, but our commitment to understanding and filling the needs of children and young adults with special healthcare needs remains the same.
The Social Service League of Des Moines joined the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1931 and became the Junior League of Des Moines, Inc.
By 2000 the center expanded to include occupational and physical therapy.
The first annual ChildServe Run for the Kids was held on May 22, 2004.
The Stelter-Fisher Transitional Care Unit opened in July 2007.
The consolidation of Daycare for Exceptional Children with ChildServe was completed, and ChildServe Woodland Center opened on January 1, 2009, providing specialized daycare services.
The expansion to the ChildServe Center was completed in the summer of 2014 and grand opening celebrations took place in the fall of 2014.
The campaign was launched in December 2018 with an anticipated three-year timeline.
