    ChildServe has an opening for a full-time Custodian.This team member performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for children, families, and staff. Schedule/Where You'll Be Full-time Work is completed at our Johnston location Schedule is negotiable How You'll Make an Impact Schedule, coordinate, direct and perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities. Respond to service requests and coordinate resources. Report and respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance. Operate power equipment such as carpet extractors, pressure washer, hand and power tools and agency vehicles as needed, following safety requirements. Clean and disinfect all areas as assigned by completing vacuuming, carpet cleaning, window washing, trash removal, etc. in accordance with established procedures. Order and stock facilities with paper and supplies. Maintain inventory and submit written requests for supplies. Coordinate and assist with the set up and take down of furniture and equipment as needed. Perform various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in areas. Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories. Complete minor grounds keeping duties and other related tasks as requested. What You'll Need High school diploma/equivalent required One year of custodial experience. Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferred. About ChildServe's Medical Childcare Program: ChildServe's Medical Childcare program provides specialized weekday care for children and teens with significant medical needs and developmental delays, offering a uniquely integrated model of nursing, education, and therapy. Our program is staffed by specially trained caregivers who work alongside nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists to deliver individualized treatment plans built into the day-allowing families to spend time together after work and school, rather than managing multiple appointments. Child-centered and goal-driven, our program helps children build self-confidence, social competence and life skills in a safe, inspiring environment. Schedule and Location Location: 644 24th St Des Moines, IA 6 minutes from Drake University Campus, 7 minutes from Mercy College Campus 40 hours per week, between operating hours of 7:30 AM and 6 PM. How You'll Make an Impact Support children and young adults in developing and maintaining skills that promote greater independence. Provide care and treatment according to individualized care plans, including nursing, therapy, and behavior support within scope of practice. Create a safe, therapeutic, and engaging environment that encourages growth and well-being. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, families, schools, and team members to ensure continuity of care. Follow established procedures and perform additional duties as assigned to support program goals. What You'll Need: Preferred: Two-year degree in human services or education; candidates actively pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree will also be considered. Therapy-related majors are encouraged to apply. Preferred: Experience working with children with disabilities. Must successfully complete the Iowa DCI child and adult abuse and criminal background checks, as well as the child abuse affidavit, prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
