ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Provide high-level horticultural care to cultivate, maintain, and enhance campus landscapes which includes plant identification, pruning, planting, watering, fertilization and soil management, weeding, and integrated pest management. * Plant selection and layouts for new plantings, replacements, and annual flower rotation. * Complete campus inspections with actionable lists on a routine basis with the goal of identifying issues and providing corrective actions. * General landscape and turf responsibilities, this includes duties such as mowing, mulching, lawn fertilization, tree removal, weed control, litter and trash removal, leaf pick up, irrigation and snow removal. * Safe Operation of tools equipment as part of daily duties, this will include but is not limited to hand tools, small engine power tools, mowers, tractors, skid steers, golf carts, sprayers, and plows. * Perform tasks for duties required for special events such as graduation, alumni and parents' weekend. * Create work schedules and oversee tasks for hourly employees as needed. * Participate in the 24/7 rotational "On Call" program and respond in a timely manner to emergency situations on campus such as snow and ice removal, flooding, limbs/ trees down and other severe weather problems. This may include evening and weekend work. SECONDARY DUTIES * Help prepare athletic fields and surfaces to ensure they are safe and ready to use. This includes grooming fields, tennis court maintenance and athletic event setups as required. This may also include assisting with operations in the hockey rink. * Provide support to other departments with the care of campus infrastructure. * Other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Preventative Maintenance: The core of this role involves diligently executing a scheduled preventative maintenance program for all plumbing and HVAC systems, in addition to projects and tasks as assigned. Emergency Response: The technician must be readily available and capable of responding to emergent plumbing and HVAC issues that arise during their shift. This requires quick diagnosis, immediate action, and often temporary repairs to mitigate damage or restore essential services. A crucial aspect of this role is the ability to accurately assess the severity of a situation and determine when to escalate to senior technicians, management, or external contractors. Examples of emergencies may include: floods and major leaks, power failures, no heat/no cooling, sewer backups, and drainage issues. The Hotchkiss School seeks an accomplished and enthusiastic coach to lead the baseball program and coach the varsity team. The ideal candidate will fulfill instructor, coach, and mentor responsibilities, promoting character-building, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Varsity Baseball coach will prepare and conduct practices, travel with students and coaches on game days, collaborate with other coaches, and monitor the health and wellness of student-athletes. In addition, the head coach is responsible for promoting the program, working closely with our admissions team to recruit student-athletes, and collaborating with players, their families, and our college advising team to ensure successful college placement. This position will be part of a larger full-time teaching role within an academic department, contingent upon our current openings and the candidate's area of academic expertise. Qualifications: teaching experience; coaching experience at the high school level or above; a student-centered educator, skilled in discussion facilitation; a professional oral and written communicator; eager to work collaboratively with colleagues; positive, patient, and encouraging coaching mentality; strong references from previous coaches and colleagues; experience creating and managing training programs and day-to-day program operations; ability to foster enthusiasm with young people new to the sport; dedicated to making positive contributions to the student experience both inside and outside the classroom, including in dorms and on teams & clubs, and through advising; candidates with expertise in an academic field currently listed as an open position will be seriously considered; eligible for Connecticut Public Service License for driving students.
