Finishing Operator: The Finishing Operator is responsible for operating finishing equipment to prepare aluminum product for shipping. You will learn to safely operate homogenizing furnaces/cooling chamber, and to use band saws, lathes, and other equipment in the Finishing area. The Finishing Operator will receive cast product from upstream production and follow the product routing to produce and ship a finished product. Shifts: Most of our shifts are continental. These are 12-hour shifts, steady days OR steady nights: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on - THEN 2 days off 2 days on, 3 days off, and the rotation starts again. It is a perfect shift for individuals who want work life balance. You work approximately 17 days a month and get two - 3 DAY weekends off in every rotation. Your schedule does not change, unless you move to another shift or department. Job Summary: Performs duties to set up, adjust and operate various types of tube cutting and end finishing equipment to produce tubing of a specified length and end condition. Receives direction from the shift Supervisor/Department Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Confirm that tubing presented to the Cutoff/End Finish Machine, conforms to the order. Setups, installs, and adjusts tools, collets, clamps, targets, etc. for product size, desired length, and end finish. Verify finished tubing is within size and length tolerance and satisfies order requirements for straightness and surface. Accurately enters product tag and inspection reports into the Apollo System. Segregate discrepant material from prime product. Performs minor polishing of collets and clamps if/when necessary. Bundles, bands, and frames tubing for shipment. Refers concerns about tubing quality or equipment condition to Supervisor/Department Manager. Perform routine preventative maintenance procedures on Cutoff/End Finish Machines and assist Maintenance Employees with repairs. NEVER operate a machine without Safety Guards in place. Communicates with other shifts regarding the status of operations and equipment. Must be available for overtime as required. Maintain a CLEAN, ORGANIZED and SAFE work area.
