Christian Academy School System history

The early days of Christian Academy were challenging, but with God’s grace and provision, and an earnest desire to serve growing interest and families’ needs, a middle school was opened at Southeast Christian campus in 1977.

In August 1978, through generous gifts, diligent prayer and hard work, the financing needed for a new facility became available, and the first Christian Academy school in our system was created on Rock Creek Drive.

West-Mont Christian Academy was founded in 1980 by its sister ministry, the Pottstown Youth Centre.

Marked by the beginning of our growing sports programs, in 1988, the Academy hired its first Athletic Director.

In 1993, to further spiritual growth and better prepare our students as Christian leaders, the advent of our Spiritual Life Fellowships sparked a renewed sense of commitment in the lives of our Middle and Senior High students.

In 1996, West-Mont became aware that a 10-acre parcel of land was available for purchase directly bordering and south of the existing North Coventry Campus.

After several years of exploration, planning, and development, Westside Christian School opened its doors in 2001.

As part of the maturation process of a healthy Christian school, West-Mont has been accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges since 2002.

In 2008, the Nazarene Church wanted to merge UC Academy with another school to form a large school district.

With 350 students, the school re-constituted as an independent Christian school and began operating as “Upland Christian Academy” in 2009.

In the Fall of 2011, WCA hosted an accrediting visiting team in its pursuit of an advanced status through Accreditation by School Progress.
