Christian Life Center company history timeline

1935

On April 15, 1935, Harmony Hall, located in a storefront at 36 South American Street, was founded by Pastor Frank Vanbuskirk and the Haney Family.

1936

In 1936, Clyde Haney started the very first bus route while assisting Pastor Vanbuskirk.

1946

On November 15, 1946, Clyde Haney became pastor of this church.

1947

The first service was held in the basement on August 26, 1947.

In 1947, construction began on a new church building located at 1700 East Harding Way.

1948

The auditorium was completed and held its first service on March 17, 1948.

1955

On November 23, 1955, Charles B. Smith became the 2nd pastor of Oneness Apostolic Church as the church continued to grow.

1961

The first services were held in the new sanctuary on September 10, 1961.

1971

In 1971, Pastor Clyde Haney was tragically killed in an automobile accident.

1978

The first services were held in this facility on February 21, 1978.

1980

In 1980 property on Linnville Road in Heath was purchased and a name change took place as the church became Christian Life Center and Academy.

1983

In May of 1983 Pastor Dave, who at the time was a student at Central Bible College, felt the Lord leading he and his wife Cindy to pioneer a church in the Cicero-Berwyn area.

1984

Christian Life Center is an Assemblies of God Church established in August of 1984 in the town of Cicero Illinois.

1986

When a nearly 100-year-old monastery building was given to Bethel Church in 1986, our work of restoring people from need to potential in Christ began.

In 1986 the building was completed as the church continued on its journey of growth.

1988

In June of 1988 Travis Kirk and family came to Heath as he became the 3rd Pastor of Christian Life Center.

1989

In June of 1989 Pastor Richard and Lisa Rodriguez became the pastors of Christian Life Center.

1992

In September 1992, leadership transitioned as Pastor David & Nancy Cawston relocated from California to take over as the senior pastor of Christian Life Center.

1993

In March 1993, Christian Life Center, now a congregation of over 400 people, moved into a newly remodeled church building in Bensalem.

CLC purchased more land and in 1993 built a much needed shelter house for outside activities.

1995

By August 1995, three Sunday services were necessary for the continually expanding congregation.

1997

As CLC outgrew its facility, plans were drawn up in 1997 to build a new worship center.

1998

In the spring of 1998, Christian Life Center purchased property strategically located at the corner of Richlieu and Galloway Roads in Bensalem for its new facility.

2000

In September 2000, Christian Life Center moved into its current facility, which houses a beautiful sanctuary of 1500 seats, church offices, and a preschool.

2001

Soon after, on November 7, 2001, his son Nathaniel Haney was elected as the new Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center.

2004

In 2004, through a series of miraculous events, that prayer was answered and Christian Life Center purchased the building that stands at 3409 Grove Ave, in Berwyn, Illinois.

2005

Christian Life Center became an independent full gospel church in 2005 and still maintains the same fundamental doctrines and high standards it has for the past 76 years.

2008

In April 2008, upon Pastor Cawston’s retirement, Pastor Del & Marvina Smith were elected to be his successor in leading this great and flourishing church on the East Coast.

2009

In 2009 Travis Kirk became the Bishop of CLC and James Kirk became the Senior Pastor.

2016

On October 10, 2016, tragedy struck as Pastor James Kirk died in a tragic fall.

2017

Michael and Rebecca Ensey became senior pastor of Christian Life Center in August of 2017.

By the strength and grace of God CLC grew closer to each other through this tragedy and in the Spring of 2017 began an extensive remodel and expansion of the current sanctuary.

2018

Michael Ensey was elected as the 5th Senior Pastor in the history of CLC. In the Spring of 2018, the remodel of the current sanctuary was completed.
