The Hospital Director of Pharmacy is responsible for leading and managing the hospital's pharmacy department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maintains the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. * Maintains the management of the pharmacy in the absence of the PIC. * Serves in a leadership capacity to oversee the workflow of the pharmacy, including delegation of staff responsibilities. * Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. * Oversees management and confidentiality of patients' personal medical data and other personal identifiable information and provides appropriate training to pharmacy staff. * Ensures all services are in compliance with professional standards, state, and federal regulatory requirements. * Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. * Maintains pharmacy inventories, including management of virtual inventories. * Reviews prescription orders for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness. * Enters data, such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge systems, and inventory. * Prepares and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and pharmaceuticals for high quality patient care. * Compounds medications using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. * Directs pharmacy personnel engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals. * Answers healthcare professional and patient drug information requests. * Provides counseling to patients regarding ordered medications, including, but not limited to, indication, directions for administration, potential side effects and interactions, expected time to desired effect, and appropriate storage. * Reviews department of health stock inventory and orders as completed by the pharmacy technicians for accuracy. * Reviews prescription renewal requests and authorizes or denies requests according to the renewal policy. * Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. * Promotes joy in the workplace to achieve organizational goals, mission, and vision. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: * Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with a B.S. or Pharm.D. degree required * Prior experience working in a community pharmacy and/or ambulatory care setting preferred * Experience working in an urban setting with racially and culturally diverse population preferred * Experience working in a low-income community preferred LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: * Licensed pharmacist in the state of New Jersey (or eligible and able to obtain prior to start date) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER (KSAO's) * Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred * High energy and enthusiasm, positive, "can-do" attitude with a high degree of initiative * Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborative environment * High attention to detail * Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively * Demonstrated ability to think strategically * Commitment to working within low-income communities * Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint ORGANIZATIONAL/SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: * Supervise Pharmacy Technician/s PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In this role, you will oversee compliance and operational management across all qualified entities within the health system. You'll serve as the institutional expert on 340B program details, policies, and procedures-ensuring full regulatory compliance with HRSA, maximizing program benefits, and supporting patient access and affordability. You will collaborate with pharmacy, finance, compliance, legal, and external partners to optimize medication management and program sustainability. Principal Duties and Responsibilities * Serve as the institutional compliance expert on 340B, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of HRSA, state, and federal regulations. * Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HRSA, including virtual inventory processes for mixed-use and retail areas. * Supervise and mentor 340B analysts and senior analysts. * Manage performance evaluations and quarterly check-ins in Workday. * Provide ongoing training and education to staff and program participants. * Participate in decision-making for new 340B initiatives and operational changes. * Develop and maintain internal and external relationships (accounting, legal, finance, wholesalers, manufacturers, vendors, pharmacies, and third-party administrators). * Maintain pharmacy split billing software. * Monitor purchasing, billing, and inventory processes to prevent drug diversion, duplicate discounts, and GPO prohibition. * Review and refine cost savings reports in collaboration with finance and internal audit. * Develop and present program utilization reports and dashboards. * Implement corrective actions and audit remediation plans as needed. * Maintain drug databases and review annual inventory to meet HRSA requirements. * Monitor ordering processes and analyze invoices, shipping, and inventory. * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance. * Stay current on industry trends and regulatory updates to ensure best practices. Education and Experience Requirements * PharmD (or BS Pharm with equivalent relevant experience). * ASHP-accredited residency preferred. * Current licensure (or eligibility to reciprocate) in Delaware. * Minimum of three years of hospital pharmacy experience required. * Previous supervisory experience preferred. * Experience with 340B program administration preferred. Hourly Pay Range: $65.25 - $104.41 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
