The Ultrasound Department is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Ultrasound Technologist to work at our Newark Hospital. The ideal candidate will:
Work independently and perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures at the request of physicians.
Perform General, OB/GYN, and small parts diagnostic Ultrasound exams.
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the use of all Ultrasound units and PACS workstations.
Job Requirements:
Completion of RDMS Ultrasound Program
RDMS eligible and registry required within 1 year of hire
Flexibility in hours is required
Flexibility in duties is required
Shift Hours:
48hr Part-Time Day/evening shift position
Weekends as required (1 weekend per month)
Holidays as required (1-2 holidays per year)

Hourly Pay Range: $38.22 - $61.16This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Essential Functions:
Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination, depending upon on the findings demonstrated, and review the examination with the supervising Radiologist if necessary.
Assists the Radiologist or the clinician in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures when performed in the department or in Interventional Radiology.
Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary.
Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting on to scanning table, if unsafe situation occurs (such as a fire), getting patient to safety and sounding alarm.
Ability to work alone on shift or on call and perform the job done with confidence in your abilities and in an efficient manner.
Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stop and walk in order to care for patients. Must be able to perform a standāpivot transfer with a patient.
Must be able to maintain composure during procedures or exams with potential colostomy or draining wounds, as well as working with patients with various conditions such as Hepatitis, Meningitis or those with isolation precautions.
Other Duties:
Verifies images and reports of exam and sends to PACS.
Maintains an inventory of coupling agent, drugs and other supplies and requisitions and materials, as needed.
Obtains sterile instruments, as needed, and returns them to central supply for sterilization and storage.
Teaches ultrasound technique to student technologists and completes appropriate paperwork.
Demonstrates willingness to accept nonāroutine work assignments, as appropriate.
Must be able to work a variety of shifts and be in the call rotation on a scheduled basis, along with on evenings/overnights and weekends. Hospital observed holidays are not required to be covered by Per Diem Ultrasound Technologists, however they may volunteer to cover if desired.
Able to be on call and in the department within 45 minutes after being called for a procedure.
Must be able to sit or stand for a prolonged period of time in performing the ordered examination (usually 30ā60 minutes for each patient).
Performs high level disinfection process according to policy/procedures.

Summary
Operates cardiac ultrasound equipment and performs high quality cardiac ultrasound imaging (echocardiography) to be used for the diagnostic evaluation of chamber measurements, blood flow characteristics, and cardiac function of the heart.
Job Duties
Performs high quality Transthoracic and Stress Echocardiography imaging studies per protocol on adult and geriatric patient population including the knowledge of transducer selection, equipment knobology for optimal image, and the knowledge/ability to perform all measurements, per protocol. Performs the patient meet/greet (confirm ID and order), reviews history and supporting clinical data for optimum diagnostic results, conducts patient prep (explain procedure, answer questions, take BP, apply electrodes), monitors patient wellbeing during test to recognize potential medical problems and takes action, and develops documentation (including Technical Sonographer Report). Provides medication/ IV insertion ( ultrasound enhancement agent, UEA) as needed.
Provides fellow colleague/new hire, student, intern and/or Fellow proctoring/training.
Participates in echocardiography performance improvement initiatives and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives; adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
Communicates appropriately, respectfully, and clearly to directors, managers, and colleagues. Accepts direction as provided.
Communicates, notifies, and follows-up on equipment failures and/or maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED with Cardiac Ultrasound on-the-job training and with registry and >5 years experience or

* Patient Care & Collaboration:

You Will:
Perform high quality ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals, complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided biopsies and procedures if needed.
Understand the methods used to generate ultrasound data and the theory and operation of the instruments that detect, display, and store the acoustic information generated in clinical examinations.
Monitor patient's well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.

Summary
JOB SUMMARY: Performs ultrasound sonographic procedures in accordance with established procedures. Demonstrates age appropriate care towards all customers. Consistently demonstrates competence in performing all ultrasound techniques and examinations with special attention to abdominal, retroperitoneal and vascular scans. Assists with minor Ultrasound invasive procedures (cyst aspiration and biopsies). Obtains and relays information related to exam. Educates patients about exams, adjusting to patient/staffing needs. Provides support to Ultrasound Department to aid workflow. REQUIREMENTS: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associateās degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Graduate of an AMA Accredited school of Ultrasound. Less than 1 year of experience. American Heart Association CPR Certification, ARDMS Certified or board eligible. Board certified within 1 year of hire. $$$ Sign on Bonus up to $10,000 and Weekend Shift Differential available
